One of my concerns as a mom is that my children are growing, thriving, and developing on-schedule. Even as an RN, I don’t often feel I have the necessary education to definitively evaluate these areas of growth and development with my children, so I take them for regular wellness check-ups and developmental screenings. We are fortunate to have an excellent pediatrician who provides these services, but many families don’t know where to begin, which is why I appreciate Pretend City Children’s Museum’s commitment to serve our local Orange County community by offering developmental screenings and tools for families to ensure their child can discover their full potential.
Next Saturday, June 7th, 2014, the museum will host its 5th Annual Good To Go From Head To Toe Family Fun and Wellness Fair. This free, community-wide event offers families an entire day filed with free developmental screenings, community and health-related activities, nutritious eating education, live music and family fun. Here are just some of the activities you’ll find at this year’s Wellness Fair at Pretend City:
- Children under the age of 5 can receive “head to toe” screenings including hearing, speech, language, behavior, BMI, fine/gross motor, and dental.
- Live music and entertainment by Arts & Learning Conservatory, Play Your Part, Molly’s Music, and The Arty Loon Show
- Face painting
- Healthy eats and treats provided by GD BRO Food Truck and Lulu’s Café
Last year more than 1,500 families completed over 2,000 health screenings and that number is expected to increase this year. This is a fun, free, and valuable community event that will help parents understand that their child’s development can and should be followed year-round.
In addition to the Good To Go From Head To Toe Family Fun and Wellness Fair, Pretend City Children’s Museum is giving away a free annual membership! Be sure to visit PretendCity.org to enter before June 7th.
