The birth of a baby is the most amazing experience. I remember hearing those first cries in the operating room that Tuesday night. That sweet sound drowned out all of the other “noise.” I remember looking into those deep brown eyes and falling in love instantly. I remember the very first time I held him and how I vowed to never let him go. I remember that first night how all he wanted was to sleep with mom and the precedent that set. Even at 15 months he still loves to snuggle with us in bed. I remember those tiny, perfectly formed hands and feet and what a miracle life really is.
The birth of a baby changes you. That little baby made me grow up and strive to be a better person. I look at everything in a different way. I’ve become more selfless and responsible and cognizant of life in general. I recognize the immense sense of responsibility that has been afforded me. My entire perspective on life has changed. It’s not all about me…but it never really was.
Kristen of Motherhood Uncensored and Rebecca of Girl’s Gone Child are about to embark on this beautiful journey and I am so happy for them. Despite the fact that those first few months have their trying moments, a new baby brings joy like no other. Congratulations ladies! It is those precious moments that make us forget about the difficult stuff.
