I want to travel all over the world, capturing it’s beauty – Me : )
One of the things I have always loved about our family, is our non-traditional approach to life. While most young married couples were forwarding their career, aspiring towards owning a home, and expanding their families, we were the couple that traveled the world, our lives contained within 2 backpacks.
We’ve just spent the last 2 weeks of the holiday season celebrating in some of the most unconventional ways. While many families jetted off to spend time with loved ones, we simply stayed home during Christmas week…cooking, baking, building, playing, reading, relaxing and catching up with each other (don’t worry, both of our families had plenty of time with us during Thanksgiving). Our lives can be quite hectic, so staying home for us is actually quite the rarity and a welcome, much needed break.
Right after Christmas, we packed our car for an impromptu road trip…to Arizona! We drove through the desert and experienced our first snowstorm…saw the unspeakable beauty that is the Grand Canyon and the deep, rich, red rocks that characterize Sedona. We hiked (kid-style, of course), went back in time to the wild, wild west, and spent some quality time with my friend Stephanie and her sweet family.
We welcomed 2013 without the traditional fanfare…sleepily…happily.
My Facebook feed is currently filled with resolutions…resolutions to eat less, exercise more, do less, do more, get organized, etc. etc. And while I can’t deny the fact that I’d like to see myself skinnier, fitter, more organized, and less stressed, I know that setting the bar too high could be disappointing.
So this year, I’m not really making any specific resolutions. I’m going to continue to eat healthy, exercise, scale back my commitments and spend more time with my family. And I know, without a doubt that travel and photography will be a part of that…it’s who I am.
Over the past few years, I’ve had the privilege of partnering with some amazing companies, and once again, I’ll be working with Kellogg’s to have real discussions about breakfast and nutrition. The new year is all about great starts, and this month rather than (or in addition to) making personal resolutions, why not create Family Resolutions? Since I’m always aspiring to spend more time together as a family, we’re resolving to have breakfast together a few mornings each week!
Additionally, I’ll be participating in their January Photo-A-Day Challenge. If you want to join in, it’s easy! Simply post a photo according to the day’s theme and tag it with #GreatStarts when you post on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Pinterest, and/or Google+.
Yesterday’s theme was Unlocking Potential, and I can’t think of two small people with greater potential than my littles!
Will you join me?
