See an Extended Sneak Peek of Maleficent at Disney Parks

There is something uniquely appealing about a backstory.  This intriguing cinematic and stage approach challenges preconceived perceptions of a character and their journey, often revealing that “things are not always what they seem.” Even if you haven’t seen a single trailer for Disney’s upcoming, live-action fantasy film Maleficent, it’s likely that you’ve at least heard some buzz surrounding the film which details the untold story of Disney’s most iconic villains.

On May 30th, 2014, Disney will release Maleficent in theaters nationwide. Starring Angelina Jolie as Maleficent, the film explores her betrayal and the events leading to her pure heart’s stone transformation. Motivated by revenge and her desire to protect the moors she governs, the evil villain places an irrevocable curse on the King’s newborn baby, Aurora.  Aurora quickly finds herself entangled in a conflict between the forest kingdom she has grown to love, and her human kingdom that holds her legacy.  When Maleficent learns that Aurora may hold the key to peace in the land, she is forced to take drastic actions that will irrevocably change both worlds.

During the 2014 Disney Social Media Moms Celebration, attendees had an opportunity to see an extended sneak peek of the film which is now playing daily at Disney’s Hollywood Studios (ABC Sound Studio) and at Disney California Adventure Park (Bug’s Life Theater). This opening scene from the film begins with the birth of Princess Aurora and Maleficent’s visit to the kingdom where the fairies are bestowing gifts upon the child. Shown in 3D, this sneak peek includes never-before-seen clips from the upcoming film.

In addition to a special visit from the iconic villain, Elle Fanning joined us and we celebrated her birthday Disney-stylle!

We are eagerly awaiting the release of Maleficent, timed to open Memorial Weekend.  The film stars Angelina Jolie as Maleficent and Elle Fanning as Princess Aurora.
