Expand Your Palate Globally With McCormick’s Recipe Inspirations World Flavors *Giveaway*

Posted by Caryn Bailey 128 Comments

During my twenties, I traveled extensively and often.  It was during that time that I learned so much about people, cultures, traditions, and practices.  I achieved a richer understanding of how diverse our world really is. I appreciated the experiences of doing things differently than “the Western way,” yet coming to the realization that those alternate ways of doing things were just as appropriate as ours.

One of the ways I allowed myself to get fully immersed in the culture was to taste a variety of foods. Not only did I sample dishes I had never tasted, I learned about foods I had never even heard of. My husband and I strive to be adventurous with regards to food, and even today you’ll find him cooking Thai Coconut Shrimp or me endeavoring to make Chicken Enchiladas.

There are days when I’m feeling adventurous and want to make something deliciously gourmet.  Other days, I’m struggling to get something…anything ready in time for my very hungry children to arrive home from school.  About a year ago, I started using McCormick’s Recipe Inspirations to liven up dinnertime. Sold in grocery stores nationwide ($1.99), each packet includes a collectible recipe card and a set of pre-measured McCormick spices and herbs to complete the recipe.  Not only is this a huge time saver, it allows me to create dishes I might have shied away from because I thought they were too complex.

Chicken Cacciatore

Chicken Cacciatore

One of the things I’m notorious for is making the same thing week after week. McCormick’s World Flavors collection exposes you and I to seasonings and recipes that we either may not have been aware of or may not have ever attempted.  I’ve made the Asian Sesame Salmon and the Chicken Cacciatore, both of which were relatively easy to recreate and incredibly flavorful. The most interesting thing about the dishes is the way the spices and herbs are combined. McCormick takes spices and herbs you’re familiar with such as Oregano and Garlic and combines them with Marjoram, for example.

Asian Sesame Salmon With Risotto

The World Flavors collection includes Chicken Tikka Masala, Asian Sesame Salmon, Caribbean Grilled Steak, Chicken Marsala, Tuscan Chicken Stew, and Chicken Cacciatore.  You can also check out the entire Recipe Inspirations collection on their website.

Win It! One of you will win a Recipe Inspirations World Flavors Kit. Simply leave a comment with the recipe you’d like to try.  Comments will close on October 22nd at 11:59 PM PST.
