If you thought this Summer has been packed with cinematic excitement, I can’t wait to share with you what Disney, Marvel, and DreamWorks have in store for the rest of 2014! In just one week, I’m headed to LA for an exclusive first look at Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy (Superhero fans unite!), DreamWorks’ The Hundred-Foot Journey (a foodies must-see), Disney’s Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day, and Big Hero 6. And since ABC Family is part of the Disney Family, we’ll also have an opportunity to go on the set of the studio’s new TV show Mystery Girls and get the 411 on their show Young & Hungry.
Guardians of the Galaxy
Are you a stealth Marvel Superhero fan? You won’t want to miss this 10th installment in the Marvel Cinematic Universe! Based on Marvel Comics’ popular superhero team, this epic space adventure follows the story of Peter Quill, who finds himself the target of a bounty hunt after stealing a highly coveted orb. Villain Ronan’s malicious intents to use the orb must be thwarted, so Quill joins forces with a quartet of misfits to save the galaxy. Guardians of the Galaxy features a fantastic line-up of actors including Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldana, Dave Bautista and Vin Diesel. See it in theaters August 1st, 2014.
The Hundred-Foot Journey
This is perhaps the film I’m most excited about given my love for all-things food! Based on Richard C Morais’ novel of the same name, the film follows the story of Hassan Kadam (Manish Dayal) and his family, who are displaced from their home in India. Led by Papa (Om Puri), the family settles in the South of France, an ideal locale to open an Indian restaurant. When Chef Madame Mallory learns of the Kadam family’s restaurant plans, she stages a protest which results in a rivalry that can only be quelled by his Kadam’s passion and culinary ingenuity. The Hundred-Foot Journey opens in theaters August 8, 2014.
Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day
If you’ve ever experienced a truly terrible day, you’ll laugh and relate to Walt Disney Studios’ upcoming film inspired by Judith Viorst’s 1972 children’s book of the same name. Starring Steve Carell, Jennifer Garner, and Ed Oxenbould, the film follows 11-year-old Alexander’s experience during the most terrible, horrible day of his life. When he shares his misadventures with his family and receives very little sympathy, he wonders if bad things are relegated to just him…that is until his family each find themselves living through their own terrible, horrible, no good, very bad days. The film opens October 10th, 2014 and I can’t wait to share some exclusive details about the film with you!
Big Hero 6
Do you have a little superhero fan in your house? This Fall, Walt Disney Animation Studios will debut the first animated film to feature Marvel characters. Inspired by the Marvel Comics superheroes of the same name, the film follows the story of robotics prodigy Hiro Hamada, who finds himself entangled in a dangerous plot in the streets of San Fransokyo. Together with his self-created robot Baymax, Hiro transforms a band of inexperienced crime-fighters into high-tech heroes to help solve the mystery. Big Hero 6 debuts in theaters November 7th, 2014.
Mystery Girls
Admittedly, I don’t have time to watch a lot of TV, but I really enjoy a good crime show and this one stars Jennie Garth and Tori Spelling! Charlie Contour (Garth) and Holly Hamilton (Spelling) are former stars of the American detective series, now facing the reality of discovering the secrets of a criminal and put their “TV” crime-solving skills to the test. Mystery Girls airs Wednesdays on ABC at 8:30/730c.
Young & Hungry
While I don’t necessarily consider myself strictly a food blogger, I do blog a TON about food so the fact that Emily Osment stars as a food blogger compelled me to start watching this show! When Gabi (Osment) gets hired as a personal chef to tech entrepreneur Josh Kaminiski, she must prove her skills. Young & Hungry airs on Wednesdays on ABC at 8:00/7:00c.
I’m very excited about giving you a first look at the amazing content lined up by Disney, Marvel, DreamWorks and ABC Family in the coming months. I’d love for you to follow along on Twitter using the hashtags #GuardiansoftheGalaxyEvent #100FootJourneyEvent #ABCFamilyEvent.
