Elmo Being Green DVD Giveaway

This giveaway is now closed.  Thanks for stopping by.  The winners are
Alicia, Lily Kwan, Nicole, Abby, and Michele.  Congrats!

being_green_box_art_3d

Elmo…he’s one of my son’s favorite television characters.  My son sleeps with a stuffed version of this furry red monster that belonged to my husband as a child.  And come April 7, he’s going green just in time for Earth Day (April 22)!  The entire Sesame Street gang is teaming up with Mr. Earth to host their first Earth-a-Thon.  Find out what happens when Abby Cadabby accidentally turns Elmo the color green and can’t remember how to change him back.  Here is a little more information about Being Green from Genius Products and Sesame Workshop:

Join Mr. Earth (played by Paul Rudd) as he teaches Elmo and Abby Cadabby how to be environmentally conscious by recycling, re-using, and conserving water and energy.  Lots of fun ensues as Abby eventually ‘poofs’ Elmo red again and Cookie Monster, Rosita, and Telly Monster pitch in, pledging to be eco-friendly…because Earth Rocks!

16506_being_green_screen_abby_rudd_and_elmo

The DVD features 16 pages of downloadable activities and story sheets to extend learning at home.  I love Sesame Workshop’s green-friendly initiatives to teach children the importance of respecting and preserving the environment.  Being Green is printed on 100% post-consumer recycled paper/cardstock and printed with soy-based ink.  The case is made of Earth-friendly reduced plastic.  Purchase Being Green on DVD beginning April 7 for $14.93.

Win It! 5 of you will win a copy of Being Green.  Just leave me a comment with something you’re doing to help preserve the environment and tell me something you liked or learned from the Sesame Workshop site.  Comments will close on April 7, 2009 at 10 PM PST.  One comment per person, please. US residents only. Duplicates and comments not including the above information will be disqualified. Comments are moderated. We are using totes to the grocery store. We recycle cans, bottles, paper, and plastic bags ; we’ve changed our light bulbs for energy conservation. We are beginning to be aware of other areas that we can do more.

Numerous research studies have proven the effectiveness of Sesame Programs around the world and there are now Sesame programs in over 120 countries.

Aww! How cute! We are raising a green generation that is for sure. Our kids are so sensitive to making the right choices for our Earth. We shop for locally grown and raised foods (when possible) and we switched to cloth bags 15 years ago. Think of all the plastic we have saved!

What a great site! I love that they have a big DONATE button so we can all help out. I was so sad to hear Sesame Street cutting staff recently.

    We recycle.

Watch as Elmo and Abby pitch in to help Mr. Earth (actor Paul Rudd in a hilariously large costume) host Sesame Street’s first Earth-a-Thon. Mr. Earth teaches Elmo and Abby how “it can be easy being green” by recycling, re-using, and conserving water and energy. Abby, in her desire to help Elmo be more “green”, accidentally turns him the color green and can’t remember how to change him back! Lots of fun ensues as Abby is eventually able to poof Elmo red again. Elmo, Cookie Monster, Rosita and Telly join Mr. Earth in pledging to continue to do “green” things to help our planet because Earth Rocks!

We use golf carts in our town to get around, so that saves us from unnecessary pollution. We also recycle paper, cans, glass, magazines, and plastic.

I learned about a show called “Ghostwriter” that looks like something I would have loved as a kid.

    Thanks for the giveaway!

I love the variety of topics covered on the website- especially the things about emergency preparedness and preparing your child for a lifetime of learning.
