Elmo…he’s one of my son’s favorite television characters. My son sleeps with a stuffed version of this furry red monster that belonged to my husband as a child. And come April 7, he’s going green just in time for Earth Day (April 22)! The entire Sesame Street gang is teaming up with Mr. Earth to host their first Earth-a-Thon. Find out what happens when Abby Cadabby accidentally turns Elmo the color green and can’t remember how to change him back. Here is a little more information about Being Green from Genius Products and Sesame Workshop:
Join Mr. Earth (played by Paul Rudd) as he teaches Elmo and Abby Cadabby how to be environmentally conscious by recycling, re-using, and conserving water and energy. Lots of fun ensues as Abby eventually ‘poofs’ Elmo red again and Cookie Monster, Rosita, and Telly Monster pitch in, pledging to be eco-friendly…because Earth Rocks!

I think it’s really cool how there are Sesame Streets all over the world. I didn’t realize this before visiting the site.

I try to do as much as ossible to preserve he planet. i use only natural cleaners, detergents and personal care products. We use stainless steel bottles and sppy cups instead of buying water in plastic bottles.
I learned that Sesame Workshop started in 1968 with the launch of Sesame Street. Can’t believe it has been on for 40 years!

To perserve the environment we cloth diaper our 19 month old diaper which is saving us from throw hundreds of diapers in the landfill. I alos learned from the Sesame Strret Workshop site that Seasame Street is broadcasted in many internatinaol places like Brazil, Germany, France, Egypt, Japan and many more.

We use reusable totes instead of the plastic shopping bags. I didn’t realize Dragon Tales and Sagwa were both shows made by the Sesame Workshop.
I learned that “In the first episode, Big Bird was the first Muppet to appear” and I use my own bags and walk to do errand whenever I can.
Oh, gosh we do several things…..NEVER buy paper towels, only use rags to clean with, cloth napkins for meals, reusable bags and water bottles. Make our own homemade all-purpose cleaner and of course, only use soap nuts for laundry!

We are using totes to the grocery store. We recycle cans, bottles, paper, and plastic bags ; we’ve changed our light bulbs for energy conservation. We are beginning to be aware of other areas that we can do more.
Numerous research studies have proven the effectiveness of Sesame Programs around the world and there are now Sesame programs in over 120 countries.
I recycle everything and the Elmo website has other cool videos teaching kids how to take care of themselves also by brushing their teeth.

Aww! How cute! We are raising a green generation that is for sure. Our kids are so sensitive to making the right choices for our Earth. We shop for locally grown and raised foods (when possible) and we switched to cloth bags 15 years ago. Think of all the plastic we have saved!
What a great site! I love that they have a big DONATE button so we can all help out. I was so sad to hear Sesame Street cutting staff recently.

We just switched over all our lightbulbs and are constantly learning more about how to be better recyclers. I think next I am going to switch to using reusable containers for my kids lunches instead of the baggies!
My daughter adores Elmo. She’s two years old and already knows what does or does not belong in the recyling can. Our family also stopped using paper towels at mean time, swiching to cloth napkins. We’re saving money and helping the environment…it has been a lot easier than we thought that it would be.

We have two trash cans in our kitchen. One is marked “recycling”. Since our trash pick-up service doesn’t require separating items, we can throw all recyclable items in one blue bag.

We have tried to recyle more and replaced the lightbulbs in our house with enegery efficient ones. On the Sesame Street website, I like their fun facts and did you know towards the bottom of each product listing. It is neat to hear that Oscar the Grouch started out the first season being orange.

We have banned bottled water and drink filtered tap water exclusively. From the Sesame Workshop site, I learned that Sesame Street can be seen all the way in places like Bangladesh, France and Kosovo. Cool!

I invested in a hybrid car and I absolutely love it. That’s my biggest change. As far as Sesame Street is concerned, I’m pleased with their ‘respect and understanding’ initiatives. With Sesame Street leading the way we can raise the next generation to have an excellent value system.

I learned the Sesame Workshop has Outreach projects in the areas of bilingual education, literacy, music, health and safety, resiliency, and child care. I love that Sesame Street is both Educational and coming out with an Eco Friendly DVD.
