Several years ago, I made the decision to stop purchasing bottled water.  Not only is the plastic harmful to our environment, the water has not been proven to be any safer than tap water (Environmental Working Group).  At home, we use a water pitcher that contains a filter, so that we’re able to drink our tap water safely.  It’s more of a struggle when we’re out and about.  While we have a ton of reusable water bottles, none of them contain a filter…until now!

Eco-Friendly Products, Reusable Water Bottle, Filtered Bottle, CamelBakI was introduced to CamelBak earlier this year at Disney Social Media Moms.  Interestingly enough, I didn’t realize the bottle we had received in our gift bag was a CamelBak bottle because it contained the logo for the conference.  The company has recently introduced their new Groove bottle which makes it possible to drink fresh filtered water on-the-go. The spill-proof bottle contains a filter inside which filters the water while you sip.  It’s brilliant!

While the bottle is plastic, it’s 100% BPA-Free and 100% reusable.  The filter, which is built into the straw, is certified to reduce chlorine, taste, and odor.  One of the questions I do have is whether or not the filter removes microbes, bacteria, and viruses, as other filters do.

The bottle is dishwasher safe, but be sure to remove the filter prior to placing it in the washer or you’ll have to replace the filter.  And speaking of replacing the filter, it should last you 300 refills or 3 months of use.

One of the things I should mention is that getting accustomed to the Bite Valve straw isn’t difficult but requires some rethinking as to how you drink from a bottle.  Once you get the hang of it you can simply, flip and sip!
