DIY Sonic the Hedgehog Cupcakes

Sonic the Hedgehog 2 is slated to open in theaters this week and we cannot wait to see Sonic, Tails, and Sonic’s new partner Knuckles in a brand new globe-trotting adventure. Our favorite voice actors return along with new additions including Idris Elba as the voice of Knuckles and Colleen O’Shaughnessey as the voice of Tails. This sci-fi action-adventure comedy film is based on the popular Sega video game franchise and will debut in theaters this Friday, April 8, 2022. In honor of the theatrical release of Sonic the Hedgehog 2, my daughter and I created these adorable Sonic the Hedgehog cupcakes. Sonic the Hedgehog 2

The most popular blue hedgehog returns for a next-level adventure. Sonic the Hedgehog 2 takes place several months after the defeat of Doctor Robotnik. Sonic is now working to help the public but is having very little success.

Dr. Robotnik returns with the help of Knuckles the Echidna, who is seeking to honor the legacy of his extinct tribe by finding the legendary Master Emerald which has the power to destroy civilizations. Sonic eventually convinces Tails to help him find the Master Emerald before it falls into Doctor Robotnik’s scheming hands.

DIY Sonic the Hedgehog Cupcakes

My daughter absolutely loves cake and cupcake decorating, so in true Duff Goldman style, she used store-bought fondant and cookie cutters to create these adorable Sonic and Knuckles cupcakes.

Here is what you’ll need for these DIY Sonic the Hedgehog Cupcakes:

Ready-to-Use Fondant in red, white, blue, black, and peach
Round, triangle or star cookie cutters
Rolling pin

DIY Sonic the Hedgehog Cupcakes Instructions:

Roll fondant with a rolling pin until approximately 1/8 to 1/4 inch (depending on how thin you like your fondant).
Use the round cookie cutter to create Sonic and Knuckles’ faces.
Use the triangle or star cookie cutter to create shapes needed to complete Sonic’s face.
Shape the eyes and nose of each character with your hands.
Apply the completed faces to each cupcake.
