Organization is my weakness, and since we’re about to become parents to a school-aged child, I’ve been brainstorming ways to ensure that important information does not get missed. Too often, we’ll set the mail, work/school documents, and other important papers on the table, only to get “lost” in the shuffle. Nowhere in our home do we have a central location where this type of information can be housed, so I thought I’d create a bulletin board where we can pin everything from lists and urgent bills to homework assignments, accomplishments, and even artwork our kids have created. If you visit your local store, you’ll find ready-to-use bulletin boards, and while they’re functional, they’re not always attractive. I decided to add a personal touch to our children’s bulletin board by wrapping it in fabric, and framing it.
DIY Fabric Bulletin Board
Supplies:
1 Cork Tile
Fabric to cover the tile
X-acto Knife
Frame
Hot glue gun
Ruler
1. Measure the cork board and trim as necessary using the ruler and Exacto knife.
2. Wrap fabric snugly around prepared board and glue the back in place. Tip: Iron fabric before wrapping
3. Insert wrapped cork board into picture frame.
4. Pin your favorite photos or this week’s to-do list.
The total cost for the supplies (minus the glue gun and ruler) was just $18 plus tax and all supplies can be found at your local Walmart.
