Ice cream before dinner seems to be our new routine thanks to our Southern California heatwave. A spoon and a container of Cookies and Cream is often all we need to satisfy our ice cream cravings. But this week we decided to get creative and beat the heat with a DIY Banana Split Bar. Thanks to Smart & Final, we picked up everything we needed in one trip including all of the ice cream flavors and toppings we needed for this DIY Ice Cream Bar. How are you beating the heat this summer?

DIY Banana Split Bar
My new favorite trend is the DIY Bar. I really like the creativity and flexibility of having a variety of choices for guests and family members. Since we’re in the middle of summer, I put together an easy DIY Banana Split Bar.
The options are limitless, but here is a list of items I included, all purchased at Smart & Final:
- Bananas
- Strawberries
- Chocolate syrup
- Caramel syrup
- Slivered almonds
- Oreos
- Marshmallows
- Pretzels
- Fruity Pebbles
- Whipped cream
- Cherries
- Neapolitan ice cream
Start with your favorite ice cream (we like Neapolitan), then top it with fresh bananas, your favorite syrups and dry toppings, whipped cream, and a cherry.
