I cannot believe we’re already talking about Halloween! It feels like just a few weeks ago that the weather was warming up and the days were getting longer as we prepared for the beginning of summer. Halloween, for me, really solidifies the fact that fall is here and the holidays are approaching. While we don’t particularly enjoy the very scary, dark aspects of Halloween, we do enjoy taking our children to our local pumpkin patch, attending some of the holiday-themed events at our local amusement parks, dressing up, and trick-or-treating around our neighborhood.
In previous years, my son has been very adamant about dressing up as one of his many favorite characters. I really advocate pretend play and try not to reserve dressing up simply for this time of year. He’s had a lot of freedom in choosing his costume and this year is no different. He’s definitely more boy and less baby with his Spiderman costume (chosen by him).
Last week, we spent some time at The Disney Store in Santa Monica, oohing and aahing over the latest Disney character costumes. After perusing the Disney Princess section and the latest costumes inspired by Pirates of the Caribbean and Cars 2, we decided on Spiderman and Belle.
This year’s theme for Halloween at the Disney Store is “I am” and conveys the feeling that children can “be” the character they like or relate to the most. Each costume is authentic and intricately designed to include embellishments and accessories that you won’t find in replicas. The selection available is quite expansive for boys and girls of all ages, including infants and toddlers. Some of the most noteworthy costumes include Woody, Peter Pan, and Lightning McQueen for boys, and Rapunzel, Snow White, Tinkerbell, and Minnie Mouse for girls.
At the celebrity Halloween Bootique, the kids enjoyed a not-so-spooky story time, festive eats and treats, and personalized shopping! Kyle Richards, Joey Lawrence, Molly Ringwald, and Candace Cameron came out to the BOOtique to outfit their children in the latest Disney Halloween costumes. Check out some of the photos below:
You can check out The Disney Store’s new Halloween costumes online or at your local store.
