Just when I thought we had escaped the dreaded flu, 3 out of the 4 of us end up sick…one right after the other, because of course we can’t all be sick at the same time! While we haven’t had it as bad as some, it managed to keep us down for over a week. As you can imagine, I’ve been disinfecting surfaces as often as possible to prevent any recurrences.
Two of the germiest areas in our home include the kitchen and the bathroom. Since bacteria can live for long periods of time on surfaces, it makes sense to regularly disinfect them. I’m always looking for safe, effective products that are affordable and easy to use in those areas, so I was interested in trying out a new product available exclusively at Walmart. DuPont recently introduced their new Sanitizer Spray, designed to keep families healthy by killing 99.9% of germs that cause the common cold and flu. When I first heard about the product, I was concerned that I would only be able to use it on Sealed Natural Stone. Fortunately, there are a number of surfaces this product is effective on including sealed grout, glass, stainless steel, chrome, and more. Just visit the website for a complete list of washable, hard, nonporous surfaces that can be disinfected with DuPont Sanitizer.
While using this product involves adding a step to my cleaning routine, it doesn’t really take much more time. Once food particles have been removed, simply clean the surface you’d like disinfected with soap and water, rinse, spray the sanitizer until wet, then air dry or wipe with a clean cloth after one minute. It’s important to remember not to rinse the surface.
I’ve found that this works well for sinks, toilets, and even floors. There is no odor and I appreciate the fact that I can use it on food surfaces without having to rinse the product off. Here is a before and after photo describing how effective the Sanitizer was in our kitchen:
