Between planning a wedding and writing graduate papers, I managed to sneak in a solo staycation at the Sonesta Irvine right before we were married. Located just two miles from John Wayne Airport, the newly renovated Irvine hotel features luxury amenities, a sophisticated work suite, an on-site restaurant, a fitness, facility, a pool, and more.
The chic hotel lobby offers plenty of comfortable seating and communal tables with Wi-Fi, perfect for staying connected or relaxing. Grab a handcrafted cocktail and lounge on the outdoor patio, cozying up to the built-in fireplace. The newly renovated fitness studio features Zen-inspired decor and is equipped with the latest sound systems, TVs, and Peloton and Precor fitness machines.
Location
If Orange County is your destination, the Sonesta Irvine is centrally located near the airport and adjacent to the most popular spots including Disneyland, South Coast Plaza, Segerstrom Center for the Arts, the coastline with some of the most beautiful beaches, and more. The hotel offers a free shuttle to guests traveling to and from John Wayne Airport. Alternatively, local public transportation is abundant in the area.
Deluxe Rooms and Suites
The hotel’s 339 deluxe and premier rooms, along with the suites, have all been renovated, offering modern comfort and luxury. Updates include new furniture, lighting, and decor in breezy neutral colors and wood tones. Wake up in the morning to a freshly brewed cup of coffee thanks to the in-room Keurig brewers, then start your remote work day at your workstation thanks to the hotel’s complimentary high-speed wireless internet access. When you reserve your room, ask for one of the rooms that offer a panoramic view of the Santa Ana Mountains.
Haven Point
One of my favorite things to do while traveling is to experience the food at my destination. Haven Point Provisions & Spirits is Sonesta’s onsite restaurant and bar, with menus dreamed up by Chef Ruiz. Dishes are created from a fusion of Pacific Rim flavor profiles, global influences, and French techniques with a Filipino flair. The restaurant only uses locally sourced ingredients and its signature dishes include the OC Tuna Stack, Beef Wagyu Sliders, Grilled Prime NY Steak, and Pan Seared Pacific Sea Bass. I’m a Pescetarian and I found the menu very accommodating to those with dietary restrictions and preferences.
The restaurant is located on Von Karman Avenue and is easily accessible for hotel guests and locals looking for an enjoyable dinner out. I love a good salmon and their Skuna Bay Salmon with quinoa and a tomato pistou did not disappoint. I was also able to sample their Pan Seared Pacific Sea Bass with creamy risotto and the fusion of flavors was remarkable. Traditionally, hotel food can be lacking, but the quality, diverse flavors, and ambiance made for a lovely evening.
Sonesta Work Suite
During my stay, I had an opportunity to preview the Sonesta Work Suite. Businesses can rent out the experiential, multi-zone space which elevates the work experience and was designed to enhance collaboration. The suite is a fusion of the traditional office with the modern coworking space all with the added benefit of having access to the hotel’s amenities. When the space is rented out, businesses have access to intuitive Plug & Play technology, meals, and snacks curated for their team. The suite offers the latest in technology including high-resolution TV screens, enhanced camera and audio, and more. It’s not all work inside the suite, which also offers experiential features such as puzzles, brainteasers, and stress relief novelties that spark creativity and inspire conversation. The suite also offers access to an expansive outdoor patio for some open-air reprieve.
