It’s all fun and games until somebody trips on a LEGO. Children love to play, and toys and games serve a valuable purpose…they help teach children everything from fine motor skills to cooperation. But at the end of the day, the floor of our children’s room is sprinkled with toys…toys I have to clean up.
Design and organization expert Kelly Edwards, featured on HGTV’s Design On A Dime and Style Network’s Tacky House recently shared some of her best tips for de-cluttering a child’s room. We’re in the midst of Spring cleaning so her insight was extremely valuable.
Kelly Edwards provided feasible tips for organizing and sprucing up a child’s bedroom so that it’s still fun and creative but clean. Here are the highlights from the video:
1. Focus on storage and space saving
2. Stay consistent and pick furniture pieces that will last a long time (consider putting an old furniture piece into a child’s room for a classic look)
3. Consider storage lockers in place of storage bins to get more years of use
4. Involve children in the decorating process by having them help paint furniture/storage pieces
Rockin’ ideas we love!
*Take an old armoire and convert it into a storage unit/art station
*Make play vertical with Hot Wheels’ new Wall Tracks
*Create an enchanted area for a little girl’s room with a canopy on the bed
What tips and tricks have you found to be innovative in de-cluttering your child’s bedroom? I’d love to hear your ideas!

Storage makes such a big difference in childrens rooms. Tons of square bins are so useful for organizing smaller toys.
