Olympic Athlete David Wise Talks About His Journey To Sochi *Giveaway*

No compensation was received for this post.  This interview opportunity was facilitated by Pampers.

The 2014 Winter Olympics are just 3 weeks away, and our family can’t wait to cheer on Team USA. I’ve been watching both the Summer and Winter Olympics with my family since I was a child, but perhaps the most inspiring part of these games are the individual athletes and their own personal journey to greatness.

David Wise

For Freestyle Skier David Wise, this year’s Winter Olympics is pivotal for a number of reasons.  Not only will this be Wise’s first Olympic Games, his sport will make its inaugural debut in Sochi. Earlier this week, we had an opportunity to chat with Wise, who’s been skiing nearly as long as he has been walking. Strapping on his first pair of skis at the age of 3, Wise initially followed in the footsteps of his father as a ski racer.  But very quickly he realized how much he enjoyed being airborne and at the age of 11 joined his first freestyle ski team.  Wise won his first Junior Olympic title at the age of 13 and continued to excel in his sport.

During our interview with David Wise, he spent some time talking about what it means to not only participate in his first Olympic Games, but to be part of something so monumental as the inaugural debut of the sport of freeskiing. When Wise isn’t on the slopes, he’s spending time with his family, including his two-year old daughter.  I can’t even imagine what it takes to prepare to compete in the Olympics let alone achieve work-life balance, but Wise offered some perspective and how he keeps his family first while remaining “in the game.”
