Being the Disney fan that I am, I have been waiting two years for The Ultimate Disney Fan Event! This week, D23 Expo returns to Anaheim for an entire weekend of all-things Disney!
For those of you who may not be familiar with D23, it is the first official community for Disney fans. I thought it had a deep-rooted history, however the fan club is relatively new. D23 launched in 2009 and is named after the year when Walt Disney opened his studio in Hollywood in 1923. D23 is a way to experience the magic, nostalgia, adventure, and fantasy of Disney in a unique way. Member benefits include a quarterly publication (Disney twenty three), special events, and more. There are two levels of membership, silver and gold and you can read all about what they include and their prices here.
Every two years, the entire world of Disney is brought under one roof for a 3 day expo. I attended D23 Expo two years ago and I can tell you that the event is truly about the first-looks, sneak peeks, and special experiences. In one room you’re walking through a layout of the new Cars Land, learning about Disneyland resorts all over the world, dreaming about laying on a beach at Disney’s Aulani Resort…in another room you’re walking through the Disney Home exhibit, wondering how you can re-create their stylish, modern, Disney accents. Two years ago, my son had a blast testing out the latest toys from DCP and running through the stunning Disney Playhouses.
So what’s new and exciting this year at D23 Expo? Here is what you won’t want to miss!
The highlight of the expo is the Disney Legends Ceremony, happening on Friday, August 19th at 11 am. Stay tuned for my coverage!
Think you know your Disney trivia? Brush up because the winner of the Ultimate Disney Trivia Tournament will be going on a cruise!
Did you grow up with films like Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs? Check out behind-the-scenes glimpses of what’s to come from the Walt Disney Studios. (Saturday, August 20th at )
Did you grow up going to the Disneyland Resort like I did? The Walt Disney World Resort? Check out Walt Disney Parks and Resorts’ sneek peek at some of the experiences they’ll be debuting around the world plus a look at the Disney Cruise Line, Adventures by Disney and Disney Vacation Club.
The Disney Living Pavilion, presented by DCP sounds like it will be right perfectly suited for my love of Disney-inspired products. There will be hot toys, cool book apps, hands-on demos, activities, and immersive environments.
When my kids need to chill out or get the wiggles out, I’m heading towards the music! Radio Disney will celebrate with music, games, and the opportunity to meet some of the stars! We’ll also be on the lookout for Disney Channel, Disney XD and Disney Junior all of which will have a large presence this year.
You might even meet some celebrities! Can you guess who I’m standing with in this photo?
I have not even gotten close to telling you all about D23 Expo! So…if you’re in the area, why not bring the family out for a fun, Disney-filled weekend!
I’ll leave you with a few photos I snapped while I was at the Studios recently…
No compensation was received for this post. I was invited to Walt Disney Studios for lunch to learn about D23.
