Creative, Collectible Toys From TOMICA

Posted by Caryn Bailey Leave a Comment

As a mom to a 3 year old boy, you can imagine how many cars and trains we have throughout our house.  We can’t go into a store without my son attempting to add to his collection and we can’t leave the house without one in tow.

Southern California-based company TOMY, is one of the oldest and well-known toy companies in the world.  For over 8 decades, the company has committed to providing innovative, quality toys with attention to safety. The company recently partnered with Toys R Us to introduce TOMICA in the US, Japan’s number one die-cast car and toy train line.  The line features seven die-cast car sets, three train sets, six accessory sets, six destination sets, and five deluxe play sets.

My father has a love for trains and I remember visiting railroad museums as a child to see model trains.  TOMICA wants to bring back traditional road and rail playtime with their die-cast car and toy train line.  Whether you’re looking to collect or simply play, TOMICA offers a line of safe, quality toys for creative play.  The line is designed to teach children the rules of the road and expand their imaginations with the potential to build.

The Parking Lot, which retails for $12.99, includes a MITSUOKA Orochi diecast car, a Tomikid figure and a variety of accessories (which can also be added to).  One of the things my son enjoys about it is the fact that he can lift the car up on the 2-level parking.  But his favorite toy from the line is the Hypercity Rescue Patrol Liner.  The train, which includes the front, middle, and rear cars and a Rescue Tomikid figure features real working lights and spinning gears to propel the train forward. Simply add rails to create a train track for the Patrol Liner.

The line offers much in the way of open-ended play for children. I like the fact that the sets and figures are interchangeable and can be built upon over time. Best of all, they’re made well and affordable.

TOMICA is exclusively sold at Toys R Us. For more information, just visit their website.
