During early childhood, the brain is growing and developing rapidly…so much so that by the time a child reaches the age of 3, he has twice as many neuronal connections as an adult. As parents, we strive to find the latest and greatest products that promise to foster our children’s development.
Cranium has launched Bloom, their new line of games, books, puzzles, and toys geared towards preschoolers. These products were designed to encourage kids to Create, Discover, Perform, and Connect. I had the opportunity to review Let’s Play Count & Cook Game and Let’s Go to the Zoo Seek & Find Puzzle courtesy of Mom Central. Cranium has intuitively developed these products with consideration for preschooler’s attention span, which a mom will greatly appreciate. For example, Let’s Play Count & Cook Game can be played in as little as 10 minutes. Each Bloom product comes with a pamphlet detailing additional product-specific activities designed to expand upon the 4 concepts that build a bridge for this line, by taking the game into the child’s world. Cranium Bloom products are affordable and available online and in Target stores.

I can’t think of a better way to teach a child about life than to simulate normal, everyday activities in a game. That is exactly what Let’s Play Count & Cook Game does! I LOVE to cook and teaching my son how to cook while promoting the acquisition of matching and counting all through play is ingenious. The game is played by first choosing a recipe. Players move their “chef” from their starting ingredient to a token on the board where an ingredient is shown. If the ingredient is part of the recipe, the token is added to it. The “top chef” wins by completing the final ingredient needed for the recipe. The recipes in the cookbook are fun and will appeal to most children (although I would have liked for them to be a little healthier). The cookbook also includes an actual recipe for peanut butter chocolate chip cookies, kitchen tips, facts, and tidbits, and pictures of kitchen tools and utensils. Your child is on his way to becoming Top Chef! Let’s Play Count & Cook Game retails for $12.99 and can be purchased at the following stores:

Let’s Go to the Zoo Seek & Find Puzzle is both a game and a puzzle, teaching children spatial thinking, counting, color and letter matching, fine motor skills, and working together. Once the puzzle is put together, the game of finding animals, objects, and colors begins. Is your child just starting to count or recognize shapes and colors? Play the beginner version! Is he/she ready for a challenge? Move to the advanced version! This is a game that will be played over and over again. With the numerous variations and suggestions your child will think they are playing a different game each time!
Let’s Go to the Zoo Seek & Find Puzzle retails for $9.99 and can be purchased at the following stores:
Play is essential to healthy brain development and offers numerous benefits. Cranium has created an outstanding product line designed to foster development through play.
I’d like to thank Cranium and Mom Central for the opportunity to review Bloom, their newest product line.
