Clipo Hippo

Posted by Caryn Bailey Leave a Comment

It wouldn’t be a summer party without toys, right? This summer we’ll be highlighting the latest summer toys so you’ll have plenty of great ideas to keep your kids active.  Before I bring a toy into our home, I consider a few things.  First of all, I want to know that it’s safe.  I want to make sure it isn’t made of materials that can pose a choking hazard or leech lead/chemicals.  Second, I look at the targeted age group.  Many times, toys that are geared towards children older than my son contain small parts that he isn’t prepared to play with, or the toy is simply too advanced for him.  Lastly, I look at the educational value of the toy.  Toys that don’t stimulate my son’s imagination and creativity usually end up forgotten in the toy box so this is an important factor.

Around Christmas, my son received a PLAYSKOOL CLIPO Figure Bucket (50 pieces) and he STILL plays with it whenever we’re at home.  Just out on the market is the CLIPO Hippo.  My son can spend quite a bit of time building and stacking these flexible plastic blocks.  CLIPO has also helped him learn colors and shapes and refine his hand/eye coordination.  I like the fact that this toy is open-ended.  He can really build whatever his little mind thinks to build (with my help too!).  CLIPO won the 2009 Oppenheim Toy Portfolio Best Toy Award and I’m not surprised.  Here is a little more information from the site:

Roll out the hippo and encourage your little one to build all sorts of colorful creations with interlocking, peg-covered CLIPO parts. Whether it’s standing still or being rolled around, the purple hippo is filled with fun! Open the hippo’s mouth to “feed” it blocks, or just have fun adding and removing them from the storage area. Kids can attach blocks to the hippo’s back, or to its wheels.

CLIPO Hippo comes with twenty parts, his favorite being the duck. He particularly enjoys putting the blocks in and taking the blocks out of the Hippo’s mouth and saying “whee” as he rolls the Hippo around the living room .  Mom likes the fact that all the blocks store inside the Hippo for easy clean-up.  As I mentioned above, the color and shape variety are valuable for educating children (which I try to emphasize even when we’re “just playing”).  One other unique feature CLIPO products is that each of the blocks not only stack but interlock.  Overall, I feel this toy is safe, educational, and affordable.  You can purchase Clipo Hippo and the entire CLIPO line of products online or in retailers nationwide.  Be sure to check out Amazon.com for phenomenal pricing.
