Children who follow the adventures of Koko, Wilson, and Brewster will be delighted to learn that they will now be able to interact with their favorite trains in a brand new way. Learning Curve, a well-respected company that designs and manufactures products and toys for children, will introduce the Chuggington Interactive Railway Set this Spring. You may remember our review of their Die-Cast Train Sets. The Interactive Railway Set will bring the famed engines to life using SmartTalk technology!
We received the set right before Christmas, so I saved it for my son to open. He had been asking for a “real” train set for months. His reaction when he opened the set was adorable. “Santa brought me a train set!” He was truly excited and everything else we bought for him paled in comparison. The set truly is incredible. It includes 70 pieces and features spiral elevation, a three foot layout, 3 interactive train stops, an Interactive Wilson engine, a hopper car, and 6 pieces of cargo. We also received an additional 12 engines/cars which I highly recommend if you’re considering this set. Listening to the engines recognize and interact with each other and the train stops is very cool. With over 250 sounds, children can enjoy the sights and sounds of Chuggington and create their own stories. Each engine alone features over 60 sounds and phrases (ours are British engines!) and the more you add, the more interactive the set becomes.
While I wouldn’t necessarily say the set was difficult to put together, it wasn’t intuitive and I resorted to reading the directions. But the finished set looks incredible and my son still enjoys playing with it after about a month. The one thing I should mention about the set is that it requires 11 AA batteries and each engine requires 2 AA batteries. Fortunately, they’re included.
The set is currently only available in the UK but rest assured…something this Spring the set and interactive engines will be available at Toys R Us (with American voices!). The All Around Chuggington Set will retail for $69.99 and the engines will retail for $14.99 each.
Chuggington currently airs on Playhouse Disney.
