Cars Land After Dark at Disney California Adventure Park

Posted by Caryn Bailey 7 Comments

Six years ago, Pixar’s computer-animated film Cars debuted in theaters and won the Golden Globe Award for Best Animated Feature Film.  But even before the film was released, Walt Disney Imagineers were dreaming up Cars Land’s signature ride Radiator Springs Racers.  The amount of research and intricate detail that went into Disney California Adventure Park’s latest addition is impressive.  Walking into Cars Land is like stepping into the film, and it’s really unlike anything I’ve seen.

During my two-day visit to the resort, I spent a majority of my time in the newly expanded park, trying to soak in as much as I could.  As the sun set, the entire area was transformed into a neon wonder. I had been told that Cars Land after dark was a sight to be seen, so as the park was closing, I headed back to “Route 66.”

The Cozy Cone Motel serves up sweet and savory cone-themed snacks including chile “cone” queso and pop “cone.”

Even the merchandise inside Sarge’s Surplus Hut and Radiator Springs Curios is authentic and helps to tell the story inside Cars Land.

EFlo’s V8 Cafe was fashioned after Route 66’s roadside eateries and features authentic, inspired food.

Inside Radiator Springs Racers

Cars Land is now open at Disney California Adventure Park. Stay tuned for an in-depth look at the park (including the brand new Buena Vista Street) and exclusive interviews with Walt Disney Imagineers Kathy Mangum (VP/Executive Producer of Cars Land) and Lisa Girolami (Senior Show Producer and Director of Buena Vista Street).

No compensation was received for this post.  I was invited to the Disneyland Resort to preview Cars Land and Buena Vista Street but all opinions are solely that of the author.

Wow, you take really good night pictures! It looks like so much fun there. My son would love something like that, too bad we live all the way over here on the East Coast.
