I would never venture to say I’m a photographer. There is something incredibly official and expert-like about that distinction and I definitely feel like I’m still learning and honing my skills. I simply love taking pictures…with my iPhone…with my camera. I’m always reading and talking to those who I esteem in this space about how to be a better photographer. I know that having an “eye” is incredibly important, but a camera…the right camera can be life-changing when it comes to photography.

As you’ve probably read, I’m in New York with over 4,000 other men and women who are passionate about all-things social media. There are writers and speakers and photographers amongst us…people with skill and passion who I hope to glean wisdom from.

Olympus PEN E-PLE Camera

Because I’m in New York, I have been and will be taking a TON of photos. That is the beauty of digital cameras. And thanks to Olympus, I’ll be shooting with their new PEN E-PL3 camera. Over the weekend, I had an opportunity to meet with the brand to shoot with two of their other cameras at the US Open of Surf, and the photos I captured are so incredible and artistic, you’ll have to see them to believe it.

Olympus PEN E-PLE Camera

Olympus’ PEN E-PL3 camera is a compact digital camera that is surprisingly easy-to-use. In the coming days, I’ll give you my complete review, but for now, here are some of the specs (particularly for those of you who are more techie than I am):

At 12.3 megapixels, you’ll capture amazing and impressive photos and HD videos

Trying to shoot in low light? Movement? The PEN E-PL3 is housed with image stabilization technology which means, no more blurry photos!

And speaking of movement, I like the ability to shoot up to five photos a second (yes, that’s correct!) with sequential shooting

Do you love Instagram? Olympus just took the concept of photo filters to a brand new level. The camera comes with six art filters that can be added to the photo right when it’s taken (as opposed to going into another program like Aperture or Photoshop after you’ve taken photos).
