Camp Spooky at Knott’s Berry Farm Offers Family-Friendly Halloween Fun

Every year around this time, my kids start talking about which characters they want to emulate through costumes, how they want to carve our pumpkin, and where they want to trick-or-treat. Fall is a beautiful season in California, and while the leaves don’t change dramatically as they do in other parts of the country, and the weather doesn’t drop to uncomfortable temperatures, we still have a number of festive celebrations to commemorate the countdown towards the holidays.

Charlie Brown, Lucy and Linus

While many love the spooks and scares of Halloween, we prefer more jovial celebrations like Camp Spooky, Knott’s Berry Farm’s annual Halloween event for children.  The activities at Southern California’s historic theme park are designed for children ages 3-11 and include themed shows and attractions that never get too scary.  Here is what you can expect this year at Camp Spooky:

Snoopy’s Costume Party: Kids are encouraged to dress up and show off their costume as they join the PEANUTS gang in a spirited procession throughout Camp Spooky.

Trick-or-Treating:  Be sure to take your kids to each of the five treat stations located throughout Camp Spooky for a sweet treat (Knott’s will even provide the goodie bag!).

Charlie Brown’s Spooktacular Show: Sing and dance to your favorite Halloween tunes at the Camp Spooky Theatre.

Monster Factory: Explore this interactive maze where the little ones create the things that go bump in the night.

Scary Stories at the Lodge:  When your children are ready for some downtime,  head over to the Grizzly Creek Lodge for story-time. While you’re inside, why not decorate your own spooky treat at the Kooky Cookie Painting?

Creepy Crawly Critter Cave: Explore the slithery, slimy creepy, crawly critters that roam the earth with one of Knott’s Berry Farm’s park naturalists.

Camp Spooky

Camp Spooky is a lively, joyful, safe environment for kids to celebrate the season and all of the above activities are included with the price of park admission.  Families can head over every weekend in October (10/5/13-10/27/13) to enjoy this spooktacular celebration.
