This giveaway is now closed. Thanks for stopping by. The winner is Michelle. Congrats!
As an L.A. native, it’s taken me some time to discover the breadth of family-friendly activities in Orange County. One of my son’s favorite places to go is Discovery Science Center. Every time we drive by, he tells me all about the “scary woman” he saw at Grossology!
The Discovery Science Center, located in Santa Ana, was designed to “spark children’s natural curiosity” and seeks to educate young minds, assist teachers, and increase the public’s understanding and appreciation of science, math and technology. The museum is highly interactive and offers 120 exhibits. There is always something new to discover at the “cube” with exhibits like The Science of Gingerbread (coming in November) and Sesame Street Presents: The Body (coming in January).
Now through October 31, children can explore the world of bugs with DSC’s latest exhibit, Bug Invasion. This 2,000 square foot exhibit features giant bug animatronics, a world-class insect collection and interactive educational stations. Learn everything you did and maybe didn’t want to know about bugs during the month of October like how fleas survive, how insects fly, and how insects eat (ew!).
And if your kids are looking for real bugs, be sure to visit on the weekends to catch Dr. Sue’s Traveling Insect & Anthropod Zoo. She has everything from a pet tarantula to glowing scorpions. Weekends are also the time to visit if you want to get up close and personal with mosquitoes, rats, and bees.
If you’re looking for a fun, safe place to take your kids on Halloween weekend, DSC will host special, spooky activities in conjunction with The Pumpkin Factory (which is located across the street at the Main Place Mall). Here is what’s going on October 30 and 31:
At Discovery Science Center:
Themed Trick or Treat Stations
Spooky Science: Bug Invasion!

Dr. Sue’s Traveling Insect & Arthropod Zoo
“It’s a Bugs Life” Storytime and More!

The Pumpkin Factory:

Check out the fun we had over at The Pumpkin Factory!
