Do you know what I love about books? They do everything from teaching a preschooler their ABC’s to transporting a tween to a far away land. I recently reviewed Curse of the Bone Pirates: Nui Island Eco-logical Adventures. This is the first of the Nui Island Eco-logical Adventure Series, and I hope it’s not the last. While it’s geared towards tweens ages 9-12, I think adults will also find it enjoyable. Without giving too much away, here is a short summary of the book (or download an excerpt here):
Three friends, brought together by mystery, adventure, and danger, team up to find the evil force behind the destruction of Nui Island. They must rely on wit, courage and strength to solve this mystery and save both the island and Big B’s grandfather, who’s mind has been afflicted by the evil happenings. You and your child will be riveted by the plot, fascinated by the author’s creative character development, and inspired by the ecological lessons intertwined throughout the story.
There are thousands of children’s books on the market, but none that will expose your children to issues like environmental preservation, eco-systems, composting, reusing, and recycling. Books are a wonderful way to expose children to topics that may be difficult for them to understand. This is a book that you and your child can and should read together. It will open the door for discussion of important ecological issue and sow the seeds of eco-awareness.
Nui, the company behind the book, is committed to the healthy future of children. They manufacture the nutrient-rich hybrid beverage containing natural fruit juices and powerful ingredients to provide children’s bodies with the most fuel-efficient energy source possible.
Curse of the Bone Pirates retails for $11.95 and is available for purchase on the site. I’ll leave you with my favorite quote of the book…
“TV is about sitting around watching other people live while your life drains out into the couch.”
