As much as we’ve enjoyed carving pumpkins and baking up spooktacular Fall treats, walking into our local store and seeing Christmas ornaments and decor ignited a wave of emotions and nostalgia within me. The smell of my father’s rice pilaf on the morning of Thanksgiving…drinking homemade apple cider while decorating our Christmas tree…putting on my best snooping persona as I tried to find out what presents would mysteriously appear on Christmas morning. I absolutely love this time leading up to Christmas and can’t wait to make lasting memories together as a family. And an important component of those memories are the gifts we give to celebrate the people we love.
It seems too early to shop for Christmas, but the reality is that in just 8 short weeks we’ll be sitting around our tree as our children open their presents with wide eyes and wonder. Both of my kids have already started their wish lists and given the immense popularity of some of those items, shopping early will ensure that I get the best price AND get the items they really want.
Knowing that families will want to shop early to get the very best savings and deals, Walmart JUST announced their first wave of holiday savings which include more than 20,000 Rollbacks on some very popular gift items from popular franchises and brands including Disney “Frozen”, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Samsung and Dell. I personally don’t like to wait until Black Friday to shop because I feel like it’s simply too close to Christmas, particularly when it comes to trending or more expensive items. Throughout the 2014 holiday season, Walmart will offer the lowest prices, offer the best brands, and make shopping easier than ever whether your shop in-stores, online, or from your smart phone.

While I’m a total “gamer,” I’ve yet to tap into the Call of Duty craze. But being that it is the hottest gaming release of 2014, true gamers will want to know that they can get 50% more trade-in value on November 3rd and 4th at Walmart stores to purchase Call of Duty: Advance Warfare. And if you’re looking to purchase a new system, you’ll get double the trade-in value when you trade in a game and purchase a PlayStation 4 system.
Holiday Shopping Made Even Easier At Walmart:
Despite “the reason for the season,” this can be a stressful time of year for families. Between shopping, prepping the home, cooking, entertaining, and celebrating, it can feel exhausting, taking away the joy of the season. Walmart wants to ensure families to make the shopping experience easy so that they can focus on what really matters…family togetherness and memory making. Here are just some of the tools and resources Walmart has launched for the holiday season:
- Wish List: Beginning Nov. 7, children and parents can build a Toy Wish List for Santa by adding their favorite toys directly from Walmart’s digital Toy Book. These Wish lists can be shared on Facebook and via email with friends and family.
- Holiday Hub: This brand new online hub will feature how-to videos, product demos, seasonal recipes and other tips across multiple platforms including Pinterest, YouTube and Walmart.com.
- Layaway: Pay at your own pace through December 15th with Walmart’s holiday layaway program featuring no opening fee.
- Ad Match: Feel confident about all of your purchases with Walmart’s Ad Match Guarantee. Any store will match the price of a local competitor’s printed ad for an identical product.
- Search My Store: Using your Walmart.com mobile app, you can now search for nearly any item in a Walmart store to see it’s availability, aisle location, ratings, and reviews. Currently available on Android devices and available for iPhone devices by mid-November.
