Best Tips For Visiting LEGOLAND Water Park – Giveaway

Posted by Caryn Bailey 21 Comments

{Consideration provided by LEGOLAND California}

One of our family’s running jokes is the fact that when we consider swimming equal, if not superior to bathing. Perhaps that is because most days during Southern California’s scorching summer, you’ll find us at the pool, the beach or our local water park. Who needs baths when you’re in the water all. day. long.

LEGO Chima Water Park

The irony of living in Southern California, where we can go to the beach in the middle of winter and our summer temperatures can easily reach 100 degrees, is the fact that there are very few water parks in the area. LEGOLAND and CHIMA Water Park recently opened for the summer, and admittedly this is our favorite place to cool off. The water park, which is housed inside LEGOLAND California is the first LEGOLAND Water Park and features a lazy river where families can build a LEGO raft, DUPLO splash and play area for younger kids, water slides, a CHIMA-inspired wave pool and more.

Surfers Cove

This summer, LEGOLAND is expanding their water park with Surfers’ Cove. This California beach-themed area will feature six new water slides extending 100-feet where families can race against each other on mats for the fastest time. After competing on Riptide Racers water slides, pose with a LEGO trophy for a photo opp to prove you won (The surfing dog, housed on top of a wave at the peak of Riptide Racers will “judge”). Also new to the area is Wipeout Lagoon, a “spray ground” where multiple water jets splash on and off to create a wave effect.

Beach Street Tacos

LEGOLAND Water Park’s expansion also includes a brand new eatery called Beach Street Tacos, which will serve up taqueria-style tacos and 3 varieties of craft draft beers.

As you prepare for a day at LEGOLAND Water Park, I thought I’d share some of my best tips. From what to pack, to the best rides and attractions based on age, here are my Best Tips For Visiting LEGOLAND Water Park.

LEGOLAND Water Park

What to Pack

  • Swimsuit/rash guard
  • Towel
  • Sunscreen
  • Sunglasses
  • Water shoes
  • Change of clothes
  • Goggles
  • Waterproof cell phone case
  • Plastic bag (for wet clothes)
  • Money (for food, locker rental, etc.)

Know Before You Go

  • LEGOLAND Water Park is housed inside LEGOLAND California. Admission to the water park can be purchased for $30 but it should be noted that you must purchase admission to LEGOLAND California to access the water park.
  • LEGOLAND Water Park is open from 10 am to 7 pm through August 19th with variable hours after that date. Please visit their website for additional information.
  • Coolers and outside food are not allowed inside the park. You can bring in bottled water or food that is required for specific dietary needs.
  • Lockers and Cabanas are available for rent (for an additional fee).
  • Life jackets are available for use on a first-come, first-served basis.

Rides/Attractions for Young Children

My kids vary in height, age, and swimming ability, yet we can all play at LEGOLAND Water Park because many of the attractions are suited for even very young children. Here is a list of rides/attractions that do not have a minimum height requirement. It should be noted that children must be supervised at all times while enjoying LEGOLAND Water Park.

  • DUPLO Splash Safari: This themed area includes kid-sized slides and DUPLO characters for splash and spray fun. (ideal for children ages 6 and under).
  • Imagination Station: Children can put their building skills to the test as they create bridges, dams and more out of DUPLO bricks.
  • Joaker Soaker: Prepare to get soaked. With water cannons blasting from every angle and 350 gallons of water dropping every few minutes, this is where you want to be to cool off.
  • Soak N Sail: Stay alert aboard this shipwrecked pirate vessel. You never know when 300 gallons of water will coming pouring over you.
  • Splash Zoo: Designed for children ages 1 to 3, this DUPLO water play area includes spray pads, fountains, a teeter totter, interactive animals and more.
  • Eglor’s Build-a-Boat: Located at CHIMA Water Park, kids can build their own LEGO boat.

Rides/Attractions for the Whole Family

  • Build-a-Raft River: In this river, you must put your building skills to the test to design a LEGO raft that you can float downstream.
  • Orange Rush: Gather 4 of your closest friends and family members to rush past the Water Park Tower on a giant orange half pike.
  • Pirate Reef: The only official “ride” at LEGOLAND Water Park will have you race down a flume between battling ships as water cannons fire across the ships’ bows. .
  • Lion Temple Wave Pool: Take an aquatic journey to CHIMA with rolling waves, a LEGO lion head archway and a 30-foot high Mt. Cavora.

Rides/Attractions for the Thrill Seeker

Ideal for teens and tweens, these water slides are designed for single riders 36″-42″ and taller.

  • Splash Out: Riders zip along a curving blue slide then splash out into a pool of water.
  • Twin Chasers: Race side-by-side on a curving red slide to finish with a splash.
  • Cragger’s Swamp: Slide through the mouth of a Crocodile, then tackle Crooler’s Twist and Crug’s Run.
  • Crooler’s Twist: Located at Cragger’s Swamp.
  • Crug’s Run:  Located at Cragger’s Swamp.
