I participated in an Influencer Activation on behalf of Mom Central Consulting for the Waterfall Group. I received a gift basket and a promotional item to thank me for my participation.
Nearly every weekend throughout the summer, the three of us would head to one of our local beaches to spend a Saturday fishing, shopping, swimming and sunning. Those days spent with my parents were some of the most memorable and strengthened our bond as a family. My love for travel grew out of those trips to places near and far and has compelled me to actively seek to create these types of memories with my own children right now.
One of the last trips my parents took together as a couple was an Alaskan cruise. My son was just an infant at the time which precluded us from joining them (we often took vacations together), but I remember reliving the beauty, serenity, and adventure Alaska boasts, vowing one day to visit this unique locale. We love the outdoors, so a visit to Alaska, particularly when my children are just a wee bit older, is definitely on my life list of must-see destinations.
Alaska is as diverse as it is vast and I would love to visit Ketchikan, Anchorage, Juneau, and Fairbanks. Before my dad got sick, he promised my son that he would take him fishing, and because he deteriorated so quickly, they were unable to cast their fishing rods together. My son often asks me when I will take him fishing like his grandpa, and my hope is that one day we can fish together in Alaska’s Inside Passage in memory of my father.
Choosing the ideal resort can be a challenge, and admittedly, I often find myself doing extensive research before booking accommodations, particularly when my kids will be joining me and we’ll be staying for more than just a night or two. For ardent fishers or those who love the great outdoors, Waterfall Resort and Steamboat Bay Fishing Club offer guests a luxurious, all-inclusive experience, ideally located in the heart of one of the most famous fishing locations in the world. Visitors to Ketchikan and Alaska’s Inside Passage can fish King Salmon, Coho Salmon, Halibut, Ling Cod, Red Snapper, Black Bass, and Rock Fish.
If you are an avid fisher, you’ll want to stay at the Waterfall Resort, the most popular fishing lodge in Alaska. Situated on a renovated historic cannery near Ketchikan, the resort offers the prime location for fishing king salmon, silver salmon, halibut, and more. With accommodations for up to 92 guests, the Waterfall Resort offers 4-star service because of it’s intimate set-up and incredible 1-to-1 staff-to-guest ratio. Since the resort is all-inclusive, the executive chef delivers 3 full meals per day and provides the equipment you’ll need to fish. Additionally, you’ll have access to a fish processing team who will professionally clean, trim, pack, freeze your catch to order, and provide access to an on-site Alaska Airlines agent to check in all fish that will be brought home. These crewmembers have over 30 years of fishing experience and keep tabs on where fish are biting for optimum catching, ensuring guests received the ultimate fishing experience.
Under the umbrella of the Waterfall Group is a second, more intimate resort called the Steamboat Bay Fishing Club. Much like the Waterfall Resort, this is an all-inclusive facility which offers 3 meals, access to fishing equipment and professional fish processing services. Located in the beautiful, largely untouched wilderness of Noyes Island, this elite, luxury resort offers accommodations for a maximum of 16 guests. Ocean-front rooms include personal wood burning stoves and expansive decks with pristine views. On-site, guests have access to a sauna, hot tub, kayaks, and a club room outfitted with pool tables and a big screen TV. Because your stay includes meals, the Steamboat Bay chef personally prepares food for each guest according to their preferences and offers the opportunity for guest interaction in the presentation kitchen.
Despite each of the resorts’ remote locations, ground crew at Ketchikan International Airport assist guests traveling to and from both resorts. If you are a family who enjoys fishing, or belong to a group of men/women who actively participate in this sport, Both the Waterfall Resort and the Steamboat Bay Fishing Club provide a luxury travel/fishing experience unmatched by other resorts in the area.
