My son is a very active little boy. From the moment he wakes up until he goes to bed, he’s a ball of energy. I do most of the shopping for our family and my husband calls me the queen of bargain hunting. But when it comes to shoes for our family, I look for quality first. It’s especially important for children to wear the “right” type of shoe. Their feet grow fast and healthy development starts early. From everything I’ve read, soft, flexible shoes that allow for mobility are best for developing feet.
Back to school shopping wouldn’t be complete without a new pair of shoes! We recently had an opportunity to review the Demetri shoes from pediped’s Flex collection. pediped offers three collections: The Originals, Flex, and Couture. Here is a little more information about the Flex collection from the site:
pediped Flex combines everything you would ever want in a rubber soled shoe. High quality, fine leather and a soft and flexible rubber sole makes Flex the “next best thing to bare feet”.Each pair uses advanced technology to maximize the flexibility and absorb shock in the heel. But the most exciting part is the Flex Fit System, which allows children to adjust the fit of their shoes and prolong the length of wear.
This may sound strange to some, but I actually never put “baby” shoes on my son. I was always advised that bare feet was best for babies learning to walk. Once he started to walk, I knew he needed a proper shoe. The shoes are stylish, flexible, and provide adequate support. They’re easy to get on and off because of their Velcro closures. I actually prefer Velcro closures over laces because they don’t pose a tripping hazard. The shoes are made with a heel cushion that protects and supports growing feet during running, jumping, and playing. One of the interesting things about this line is that the shoes come with a 2 mm insole to customize the fit for your child. My son currently has the insoles inside the shoes so when his feet start to grow, we’ll remove them, thereby extending the length of time he’ll wear these shoes. I’m highly impressed with their sizing guide which ensures your child is wearing the correct size in their shoes.
They’re good for climbing!
The Flex line offers comfortable, supportive shoes at affordable prices. I don’t know if you’ve done any research on the cost of children’s shoes, but they can start around $50-$70 for a quality pair. My son’s shoes retail for $29 and the average price of a pair of pediped Flex shoes is $25-$45 (with some higher and lower, of course). This month pediped brought in 27 new styles for their Fall/Winter ’09 collection. They introduced their “Couture Collection” this fall which I will definitely be checking out (hint, hint). pediped has also partnered with No Slippy Hair Clippy to create coordinated hair clips for signature pediped shoes (how cute is that?).
If you’re looking for a quality, affordable shoe that will provide the support your child’s growing feet need, check out pedipeds!
