Baby Einstein World Music

Posted by Caryn Bailey Leave a Comment

639My son has been watching Baby Einstein DVDs since before he turned 1 (and he’s definitely developing appropriately).  I know some parents may not agree with having children watch TV until they reach the age of 2, but I’ve found it to be something enjoyable and educational that my son and I do together.  Some life concepts are actually best described by seeing and hearing them.  Baby Einstein created World Music to expose children to global diversity.  Living in Southern California means my son will inevitably be exposed to various cultures and languages.  My husband is Caucasian and I am Puerto Rican and I want to instill within my son an appreciation and respect for all cultures.

We had an opportunity to preview the soon-to-be released World Music DVD and CD from Baby Einstein thanks to Mom Central.  Here is a little more information from the site:

Baby Einstein brings the rhythms of the globe home to your baby.  Expose your little one to diverse music and cultures with our entire line of World Music products.

63362My son is always captivated by the music and sights that are so characteristic of Baby Einstein.  We haven’t watched a DVD from this series lately, so when I turned it on, I was very surprised that many of the objects and sights (monkey, sun, world, and drum readily come to mind) were familiar to him.  I love the diverse music mix and catchy rhythms.  I also appreciate the mix of real-world images and toys.  One of the cutest things my son did was pretend to beat on a drum when he saw the drum.  Baby Einstein DVD’s are meant to be watched with your child and I have to say that I enjoyed it myself.  I also learned a few things about world culture.  The DVD is very interactive and there is definitely opportunity for dance and movement.  Children don’t have to stay seated while watching.  Parents can also customize viewing by choosing shorter viewing segments or the Grow With Me segment which features spoken words and additional content specific to babies.  Overall I think this is a fabulous addition to the Baby Einstein DVD collection.  Here is a little more information about the DVD:

The World Music DVD encourages live interaction and introduces children to the world’s distinctive sights and sounds with fun-loving host Jane the Monkey and her toy drum as she travels across the globe to play music with her puppet friends.

We also had an opportunity to preview the soon-to-be released World Music CD.  With 20 songs from four different regions of the world, listening is a culturally diverse experience.  I like the use of varying instruments and it’s perfect for car rides!

Both products are available for purchase/pre-order on the site.

Profuse thanks to Mom Central for this review opportunity.
