With temperatures in the 100’s, we’ve been seeking reprieve at our local pool, the water park…even our sprinklers! My son swims all-year round, thanks to our relatively temperate weather, but last week’s heat wave inspired us to invest in brand new swimsuits for the whole family. Since my children grow so quickly, it doesn’t make sense to spend a lot of money on their swimwear. Fortunately, our local Walmart had some trendy, adorable swimsuits for my daughter, my son and I for approximately $40 (not including tax).
When purchasing swimwear for kids, I always opt for a Rash Guard, since we like the additional protection from the sun and are always striving for a modest look. We picked up an OP 3-Piece Rashguard and Bikini Set for just $13.94 which is well-priced despite the fact that we won’t be using the bikini top. The Island colors and pattern are stylish and perfect for our upcoming trip to Maui later this year and my daughter received a ton of compliments on the swimsuit over the weekend while at our local Orange County Water Park. The suit is well-made of a quality nylon-spandex blend and the sizing was perfect (we opted for a 4-5 so my daughter can likely wear it the entire year).
We picked up a comparable swimsuit for my son…an OP Rashguard and Swim Shorts Set for just $11.97. We like the quality and feel of the fabrics used and found them to be comfortable, lightweight, and breathable. My son is very active and we didn’t find that the rashguard interfered with his swimming and water play. He picked out the sea-inspired set which is attractive without being cutesy (boys his age are totally not into cutesy!).
After wearing the same swimsuit since before my daughter was born, it finally broke and I decided that it was time to replace it. Admittedly, I wasn’t quite sure I would be able to find an attractive but modest swimsuit at Walmart. From a quick glance through the section, many of the swimsuits looked to be targeting a younger, hipper audience. However, I found a simple, attractive one-piece swimsuit from Catalina that offered sufficient coverage for just $15.96. This Mesh Stripe One-Piece Swimsuit features a racer back, a scoop neck, and trendy “burnout” details. I like that it is forgiving in the middle section and I always find black to be slimming! Tip: If you’re looking for Catalina’s exclusive swimwear collection at Walmart, you might check out their website for style inspiration and then click over directly to each product on Walmart.com. From Bikinis and Tankinis to more modest One-Piece Swimsuits, Catalina offers a broad collection of on-trend swimwear for the season.
For around $40, the three of us were outfitted for the long, hot summer we’re anticipating here in Southern California. We love the hip styles and quality fabrics all at a price we feel comfortable with. In addition to Walmart’s swimwear collection, be sure to check out their swimsuit cover-ups, water shoes, water toys, flotation devices, swim caps, and swim goggles.
To complete each look, I put together 3 swimwear outfits for a girl, a boy, and a woman:

I totally need to get Lincoln swimming essentials! I will check Wal-Mart out. I need a new suit. Is the back low on yours? I am a bit over weight, I need “back fat” coverage. I went looking for suits this weekend at Ross etc and didn’t find anything
