Many of you know that long before my husband, my children, this blog…I worked as an RN. For 11 years, I worked in obstetrics and neonatal nursing, so when I went into my local Walmart, and caught a glimpse of signs depicting their partnership with our local Children’s Miracle Network Hospital, Children’s Hospital of Orange County. This hospital holds a special place in my heart because I spent three years with parents and families of sick, injured, and premature infants.
For the past 25 years, Walmart has helped make a difference in children’s lives across the country by raising and contributing more than $600 million to help 170 children’s hospitals. As we approach the end of this six week campaign, I encourage you to consider becoming involved in helping children in your local community by making a donation.
Here are some of the ways you can be involved:
If you donate $5 or more, you’ll receive a CHOC recycled grocery bag
You can purchase and donate a $4 DVD and drop it off right at your local Walmart store
In my particular store, 100% of every dollar is donated to CHOC and will be used to help build a new youth room at the hospital.
One of the things I love about this campaign is the fact that it’s community oriented. When you walk into your local Walmart, you’ll likely recognize the hospital because it’s in your community. Walmart has committed to raising $25 million to help kids get the medical care they need.
