Our engines are revving for the release of Cars 2 this coming Friday! On Saturday, I finally get to take my son to see the film (which is absolutely briliant)!
You likely know that as attachment parents, our children sleep with us for a time. My son will turn 4 this week, and the time has come (as in many, many months ago) for him to sleep in his own bed. We’ve tried a number of different things including charts and rewards, “you’re a big boy” praises, and even bribery. Since my son is extremely excited about the film, we thought we would inspire him to sleep in his own bed with some of his favorite Cars 2 characters.
Disney has released a variety of fun, Cars 2 inspired items to help bring a bit of the film back home. Since the film is all about secret missions and spies, they’ve released a Cars Secret Mission 4-Piece Toddler Bedding Set which includes a comforter, flat sheet, fitted sheet, and pillowcase, all of which will fit a standard crib mattress. The pillowcase, which is reversible, features Lightning McQueen on one side and Tow Mater on the other. The entire theme of the bedding is Secret Mission and even includes Finn McMissile. The bedding itself is soft and made of cotton. The colors are bright and a perfect representation of the film. The set retails for $37 which I think is a very good price, considering the fact that 4 pieces are included.
The Disney Cars Toddler Blanket is perfect for snuggling on the couch. It’s super soft and cozy, generous in size and affordable at just $14. The only thing I’m not certain about is whether or not it’s available in other characters as the one we received features Lightning McQueen.
My son is notorious for sleeping with a variety of toys, cars, trains, and stuffed animals. I think he was probably the most excited about the plushes he received. I think one of the reasons he doesn’t enjoy sleeping in his bed is the sense of being alone. He was very excited about having Lightning McQueen, Tow Mater, Finn McMissile, and Holly Shiftwell to accompany him. The line of Cars 2 plushes, which come in a variety of sizes, also includes Fillmore, Guido, and Luigi from the film. Right now, they’re on sale at the Disney Store for $8 or $15, depending on the size.
To complete his room, we have a brand new set of Cars 2 curtains. They feature Lightning McQueen, Tow Mater, and Finn McMissile and coordinate well with the bedroom set. They’re not yet available, but will retail for $19 at Walmart.
My son still doesn’t have a complete sense of what the film is about, but he has heard me talk about secret missions and The World Grand Prix. His brand new summer Cars 2 PJs feature Lightning McQueen leading the race with Francesco Bernoulli and Shu Todoroki. This light and cozy cotton short set includes matching shorts and a tee for $14.50.
My son LOVES his Cars 2 bedroom makeover! The only thing we still need to do is hang curtains and frame one of the gorgeous posters from the film. The question still lingers…will my son finally sleep in his own bed?
As I mentioned above, the film is spectacular. The story is exciting and heartwarming, the characters relatable, and the animation just beautiful. Stay tuned for my full review this week, complete with exclusive interviews.
No compensation was received for this post. A huge thank you to Disney for providing the products above for review.
