Kid-centric reality shows are the hottest trend, where kids call the shots in the kitchen, on the runway, and even for survival. Reality TV is a global phenomenon, and while there is no shortage of shows focused on DIY and home renovation, Backyard Blowout is the first series that empowers kids to take charge of the family backyard. Now streaming on Peacock TV, you’ll see the most impressive backyard makeovers, dreamed up by kids.

Backyard Blowout
Hosted by Jonathan Kidder and outdoor design expert Sana Garner, Backyard Blowout will feature the most elaborate backyard makeovers, including multi-level treehouses, outdoor kitchens, and a colorful resort for the family chicken.
The premise of the show is inspiring, as kids work to transform their family’s backyard space as a surprise to their parents. Kidder and Garner travel to these homes and help these kids realize the designs they have dreamed up, while their parents are away. The kids are passionate about their projects and I love the incorporation of sustainability through the use of repurposed materials. Balancing their imaginations with the practical reality of what they are capable of doing, the resulting backyard transformation is 100% kid-led. The backyard makeovers are unique and showcase the creativity of these kids and may inspire your next backyard renovation.
Backyard Blowout is Peacock’s first venture into the DIY design space. Best of all, you can stream the first season for free.
DIY Birdhouse
To celebrate the release of the series on Peacock, hosts Jonathan Kidder and Sana Garner walked us through a fun, easy DIY Birdhouse tutorial. We used the Birdhouse Woodworking Kit from SparkJump. You can see the entire video tutorial below.
