My son’s interest in superheroes began at a very early age. He went from dressing like his favorite Marvel characters to digging deep into their origin stories. These days, when we see the latest Marvel film in theaters, I look to him to help fill in any gaps in the story. Venom is one of those characters I knew very little about before seeing the origin story released by Sony earlier this year. Now available on Blu-ray and DVD, Venom tells the story of how journalist Eddie Brock gains superpowers after being bound to an alien symbiote whose species plans to invade Earth.

Eddie Brock (played by Tom Hardy) is broken after he loses everything, including his job and fiancée. His life now at its lowest, he becomes host to an alien symbiote with resultant extraordinary powers that transform him into Venom. With a far stronger and more weaponized symbiote rival Riot, will his powers be enough to defeat his great evil forces?
