December in Southern California means we can catch the sun’s rays at the beach and snowboard at Mountain High in the same weekend. Winters here are typically temperate, and despite our unseasonably warm weather, Mountain High opened a few weeks ago with daily fresh snow.

Mountain High
Located 90 minutes from LA and Orange County, Mountain High is Southern California’s closest winter resort with three distinct mountains. The resort includes a variety of lifts and trails, a world-class terrain park, the largest tubing area in the region, and a phenomenal winter sports school. In addition to all of the daytime winter activities offered at the resort, guests can also enjoy night skiing and snowboarding daily during peak season. Mountain High has consistently been the first resort to open in Southern California with snowmaking covering more than 80 percent of slopes. With 16 lifts, 59 trails, and their infamous North Pole Tubing Park, there are plenty of places to ski, board, tube, and play in the snow.
Ski and Snowboard Rentals
Everything you need to ski or snowboard is available for rent at Mountain High. Prices vary, but a complete ski or snowboard package for the day costs $37 for adults and $27 for children. You can also rent individual equipment as needed on a first come, first served basis. It is recommended that you arrive early, particularly on weekends and holidays as quantities are limited and online reservations are not available. All three resorts at Mountain High offer ski and snowboard rentals.
Ski and Snowboard Lessons
Learn to ski and snowboard at Mountain High’s Winter Sports School. With current teaching techniques and equipment (including virtual snow), students learn and progress quickly. Group and private lessons are available along with lessons specifically for kids.
January is Learn to Ski/Snowboard Month and beginning January 8th, guests can purchase two midweek, non-holiday Half Day First Timer Packages (lesson, rentals, lower mountain lift ticket) for the price of one ($105, online only). Bring a friend and spend the day skiing or boarding at Mountain High.
On select Tuesdays throughout the season, guests can purchase the Half Day First Timers Package for $79 (Regular price +$114). Package must be purchased online, 48 hours in advance.
If you are serious about learning to ski, consider the 1…2…3 package at Mountain High. Take three lessons and receive a free 8-hour all-mountain lift ticket ($79 value). Package includes rental equipment, lower mountain lift ticket, and lessons (1 hour, 45 minutes) on each of the three days. Not available January 1-7, 13-15, February 17-19, 2018.
