“Even my patients who have never had allergies before, are experiencing allergic symptoms.” My physician and I were discussing the severity of my symptoms at a routine appointment a few weeks ago, confirming what I already knew. I’ve had seasonal allergies since I was a child, so while I know the mainstays of prevention and symptom management, the yellow pollen residue on my car each morning reminds me that I’m fighting an uphill battle.

As part of my overall approach to getting through the Spring allergy season, I am diligent about working out and eating a diet rich in antioxidants. One of my favorite on-the-go breakfast hacks is a simple Açaí Bowl. Not only is Açaí rich in antioxidants, the berries contain a wealth of vitamins and minerals important for immune system function.
An Açaí bowl is easy to make at home and won’t take more than 15 minutes. Along with the frozen berry, choose your favorite fruits, nuts, and toppings to make the Açaí bowl your own. I have made chocolate and peanut butter variations, both of which are absolutely delightful. Today, in honor of spring and the coming summer season, I thought I’d go with an island theme!
This Tropical Açaí Bowl includes coconut milk, bananas, kiwi, strawberries, granola and hemp seeds. Sweeten it with honey or another raw sweetener, if desired.
- 2 packs Açaí Frozen Smoothie
- 1/2 Banana use less if it is ripe to maintain a thick consistency
- 1/4 cup Coconut Milk
- Fresh Kiwi, sliced
- Fresh strawberries, sliced
- Hemp seeds
- Unsweetened Flaked Coconut
- Granola
-
Combine smoothie packs, banana and milk in a blender
-
Top with granola, flaked coconut, hemp seeds, strawberries and kiwi
What are your best tips for easing the aches and pains associated with allergies and colds? I’d love to include them below.
