Every week, my drive to work took me down Hollywood’s infamous Sunset Boulevard, the hub of Hollywood’s nightlife and music scene. I was always struck by the House of Blues, which fuses Southern-inspired cuisine with live music. While I never made it inside the Los Angeles location, I eventually found myself gnoshing on VooDoo Shrimp to the sounds of rhythm and blues in Anaheim when the House of Blues was located at Downtown Disney. This particular location showcased the musical talents of legends like James Brown, Etta James, B.B. King, Willie Nelson, Jerry Lee Lewis and more.
Fifteen years and 4,000 live concerts later, the House of Blues is finding a new home at the GardenWalk in Anaheim. Compelled to find a space that would accommodate its growth, the new House of Blues Anaheim, slated to open on February 28th, 2017, will span 44,000 square feet (twice the size of the former Anaheim venue). The new space will feature live music in four unique entertainment spaces, including the main concert hall, which will hold 2,200 guests.
Getting a Sneak Peek at House of Blues Anaheim
I recently got a first look at the new House of Blues Anaheim during their hard-hat tour, where they lowered the water tower, walked us through the spaces inside the venue, and gave us a taste at the incredibly Southern-inspired food that the brand is known for.
Hailed as “America’s most beautiful music hall,” The House of Blues Anaheim will be the flagship venue featuring a wealth of artifacts, original sculptures, and legendary American Folk Art items from the former House of Blues Sunset Strip.
After the four-ton iconic steel water tower was secured at its new home, we took a guided tour throughout the venue including the main concert hall, The Parish, the Restaurant & Bar, the Foundation Room and the VIP club. This will be the most advanced House of Blues venue to date and the only one of its kind on the West Coast. Each location features state-of-the-art sound and lighting technology in custom-designed environments to provide an intimate concert setting. Additionally, each location features signature folk art and is part of the world’s largest American Folk and Outsider Art collections in the world.
While it was a bit difficult to imagine exactly how the venue will look and feel, I did find it to be incredibly spacious. I can’t wait to get another taste of their decadent Bourbon Bread Pudding while listening to today’s most talented musicians (I hear New Kids On The Block will perform in May!).
Amazing Food at House of Blues Anaheim
House of Blues prides itself on offering guests a unique experience combining from-scratch Southern-inspired cooking with incredible live music. During the hard hat tour, we sampled some of the items on the menu including the Voodoo Shrimp, the jalapeno cheese cornbread and the Bourbon Bread Pudding.
