All month we’ve been celebrating Halloween, trick-or-treating with our favorite Mouse, picking out pumpkins at our local pumpkin patch and baking up spooky treats. Our costumes are set for this weekend’s Fall-tastic activities, and the only thing left on my to-do list is figuring out a hairstyle to coordinate with my daughter’s outfit. My son has it easy, and despite his beautiful curls, his Stormtrooper mask will cover any unruliness. To compliment my daughter’s ballerina outfit, we decided together to create an easy braided ballet bun.
Beautiful Braided Ballet Bun
My daughter has fine, wavy hair that tangles easily, so I knew that I’d have to wash her hair before attempting this Braided Ballet Bun. We’ve been using JOHNSON’S NO MORE TANGLES 3-step regime for years now and it has made the process of washing and detangling her hair seamless. JOHNSON’S NO MORE TANGLES line includes a 2-in-1 shampoo and conditioner formula for easy to manage hair which works well on my daughter’s fine hair. Once I’ve washed her hair, I simply use JOHNSON’S NO MORE TANGLES detangling spray to comb through it with The Wet Brush. I’ve been giving my daughter some autonomy and allowing her to brush her own hair and that has made the process practically pain-free. If your child needs a bit of extra nourishing, you can also use JOHNSON’S NO MORE TANGLES conditioner before using the detangling spray.
Here is a brief overview of JOHNSON’S easy, 3-step detangling regime:
- Step 1: Cleanse using JOHNSON’S® NO MORE TANGLES® leave-in conditioner shampoo & conditioner for soft and smooth hair
- Step 2: Nourish using JOHNSON’S® NO MORE TANGLES® conditioner
- Step 3: Style using a wide tooth comb or brush and JOHNSON’S® NO MORE TANGLES® detangling spray
After detangling her hair, I let it air-dry so that it was damp before creating her Braided Ballet Bun. Here is a quick visual tutorial:
- Use an elastic band to place hair into a high ponytail
- Separate hair evenly around the ponytail
- Section off enough hair to create a braid
- Evenly wrap hair into a beautiful ballet bun and secure with bobby pins
- Wrap braid around bun and secure with bobby pins
- Use hairspray to flatten flyaway hair
- Accent the bun with a bow, if desired
I absolutely love how classy this ballet bun looks. It is perfect for aspiring ballerinas who want to dress up for Halloween or during practices and performances. If desired, you can also use a bun maker with this tutorial for a practically perfect bun.
In the midst of busy schedules, particularly during this time of year, it’s nice to spend a few minutes with my daughter helping her care for her hair. While most days she prefers to brush her own hair, there are those special moments where we will sit together and I’ll spend a little time creating one of her favorite styles.
JOHNSON’S NO MORE TANGLES regimen includes hair conditioners that moisturize hair gently, without the irritation to the eyes that is common with traditional shampoo and conditioners. Just by using the 3-step regime, most of my daughter’s knots have already been unlocked. The result is smooth, shiny hair that looks healthy and smells wonderful.
