Donning a hard hat and a vest, I knew that what I was about to experience at the LEGOLAND Resort was going to be groundbreaking (pun intended!). If you have a school-aged child, you’re likely entrenched in the world of LEGO NINJAGO. Originating as a LEGO set, this mysterious world bears semblance to Chinese and Japanese culture and myths. The ninja characters are in touch with the elements and train to hone the skills they will need to defeat members of the Underworld.
On May 5th, 2016, guests visiting the LEGOLAND Resort will learn what it takes to master the art of Spinjitzu as they test their reflexes, balance, and agility before entering Master Wu’s dojo in NINJAGO The Ride. In advance of the opening of the largest ride investment to date at the LEGOLAND Resort, here are 10 Things You Didn’t Know about NINJAGO World.
- This immersive land will encompass one acre of the resort and feature the new NINAGO The Ride.
- NINJAGO The Ride was fashioned in partnership with Triotech and features “maestro technology,” a first in North America.
- Guests will demonstrate their ninja skills through hand gestures in place of a hand-held device as they experience NINJAGO The Ride.Through this innovative new technology, the ride will sense the presence of guests’ hands and how they move.
- NINJAGO The Ride was designed so that children of all ages can ride, as long as they are accompanied by an adult over 48 inches tall.
- Gestures include throwing fire balls, shock waves, ice and lightning to defeat villains which will earn guests points throughout the ride.
- NINJAGO The Ride is a 4D experience, utilizing 3D screens and special effects such as heat, smoke, and wind.
- Easter eggs present throughout the ride will compel guests to return for subsequent rides.
- Aspiring ninjas can train and hone their skills in balance, agility and speed at Zane’s Temple, Kai’s Spinners, Cole’s Rock Climb and Jay’s Lightning Drill.
- Ninja Kitchen will serve up Asian-inspired handheld street food such as Banh Mi sandwiches, the perfect fuel for would-be ninjas.
- There will be 22 new LEGO models specifically crafted for NINJAGO World including a 500 pound model of Nya and Zane built from 73,600 LEGO bricks.
