Crafting with my kids is one of our favorite Christmas traditions. Very often, these crafts will be incorporated into our home decor since my kids love infusing their own personality into our holiday style. Even at 5 and 8, simple crafts and projects are ideal to minimize frustration and maintain interest. I often glean inspiration from Horizon Group’s Kids Crafts site, which features step-by-step photo instructions for educational, seasonal, everyday and rainy day crafts.
During my visit to Bentonville with Walmart earlier this season, we spent some time crafting with the creative experts from Horizon Group. Along with showcasing their crafting supplies, they offered several inspiration boards with adorable, seasonal crafts even I felt confident tackling. Popsicle stick crafts always manage to look incredible with very little effort, which boosts kids confidence and inspires them to continue exploring their crafting abilities.
This DIY Popsicle Stick Snow Sign can be hung anywhere in your home and took about 30 minutes to complete. Here is what you’ll need for this project:
- 12 popsicle sticks
- Hot glue gun
- Acrylic Paint
- Glitter Fuzzy Sticks
- White Glue
- Glitter
- Sequins
Instructions
- Glue 9 popsicle sticks side-by-side
- Glue 3 popsicle sticks to the back of the configuration to secure it
- Paint popsicle sticks and allow to dry completely
- Arrange glitter fuzzy sticks into letter shapes to spell out the word SNOW
- Create a “hanger” for the sign using a glitter fuzzy stick and hot glue to the back of the sign
- Create snow caps with white glue and glitter
- Attach sequins in varying colors to the front of the sign using white glue
Here is a visual step-by-step:
This craft is easy enough for kids to complete with some parental involvement, specifically for the steps that require use of the hot glue gun. You can personalize your sign by varying the colors of the paint (try mixing 2 colors together), the glitter fuzzy sticks, and the sequins.
