Even before my son understood what a Jedi Knight was, I’d often find him role playing scenes he’d imagined from the Star Wars universe with his lightsaber and toy spacecraft. He’s already heavily vested in the characters and their stories, and I imagine his Halloween costume of choice will be symbolic of either the dark or light side, depending on his mood. And while the series has often appealed heavily to the male segment, more and more women are drawn to the strong female roles and the continuation of this iconic series.
In honor of the release of Star Wars: The Force Awakens, Lucasfilm partnered with CoverGirl to create a line of Star Wars Beauty Essentials inspired by the film’s dark and light side themes. At present, you’ll find Limited Edition lipsticks, mascaras and nail polishes to help you embrace your dark or light side.
Additionally, CoverGirl created a series of looks inspired by the film’s characters complete with tutorials and the products you’ll need to recreate thee looks at home.
Generally speaking, I prefer lighter, more natural colors during the day so I decided to put together CoverGirl’s Jedi-Inspired Makeup Look. Here is what you’ll need:
- Clean Liquid Makeup Foundation (color to match skin tone)
- Clean Pressed Powder Foundation (color to match skin tone)
- Star Wars Limited Edition Supersizer Mascara (Very Black)
- Bombshell Shineshadow (Gold Goddess)
- Eye Shadow Quad (Notice Me Nudes)
- Eye Shadwo Quad (Go for the Gold)
- Star Wars Limited Edition Colorlicious Lipstick (Nude)
- Star Wars Limited Edition Outlast Nail Polish (Speed of Light)
1. Start with a smooth complexion. Apply Clean Liquid Makeup and Pressed Powder Foundation
2. Sweet Shineshadow over eyelid and cheekbone
3. Brush #2 from Notice Me Nudes up to crease
4. Deepen by brushing #3 from Go for the Gold over eyelids
5. Add a strong hint of gold with #1 from Go for the Gold under eye from corner to outer wing
6. Layer Bombshell Shineshadow
7. Complete the look with a subtle lip using Nude #70
*Optional* Paint nails with Speed of Light nail polish
Overall, this is a relatively easy look to recreate. I recommend having several different types of brushes to apply makeup smoothly. I also found having an angled eye shadow brush helps achieve the gold accent underneath the eye.
