My passion for health and wellness began long before I became responsible for more than just myself. I remember sitting in my dorm room with my roommate during my sophomore year of college, riveted as she described all of the learning experiences she was immersed in as a second year nursing student. Halfway through the year, I changed my major from English to Nursing, resolved to make a difference. Despite the fact that writing occupies much of my time these days, I hold fast to both the principles I learned and the constant flow of information I seek out as I strive to make the healthiest decisions for my family.
Beyond exercise and eating healthy, there are a number of specific things you can do to improve your health. This Saturday, October 10th, 2015, Walmart will host America’s Biggest Health Fair where families can receive free preventive screenings and tests, get a preventive immunization, sample health-centric products and obtain information on health insurance. Events will be held from 12 pm to 4 pm in over 4,400 stores across the US and most of the screenings take just 10 minutes. Prevention always supersedes curative care and many of the screening tests conducted during this event can be used to identify serious health problems like diabetes and heart disease, which often don’t present with symptoms until the disease is advanced.
You can search for a Walmart near you hosting an event by visiting Walmart.com/HealthCare.
