Earlier this month, I jet-setted to Miami to speak at and provide social media coverage for Hispanicize, the largest event of its kind converging professionals from diverse backgrounds to talk about the latest trends in social media. Every single time I travel, I find myself staring blankly at my closet, lamenting the fact that “I have nothing to wear.” Ironically, my suitcase of clothes and shoes weighed in at just under 50 pounds, completely dispelling the notion that I really don’t have a single wearable article of clothing in my close. Suffice it to say, the combination of the dawn of Spring and the fact that I wanted to look the stylish, on-trend speaker part, I picked up a dress and a few other items at my local Walmart.
Just in time for the new Spring season, Walmart has introduced an array of new styles in dresses, shorts, t-shirts and more. Since I was aiming for dressy professionalism, I headed over to the dress section and picked up George’s Easter Dress in Fruit Khaki. With it’s British influences, George is one of my favorite Walmart-exclusive brands particularly when I’m looking for apparel that is dressy and formal. The dress is simple and classy and includes a white belt. And did you check out the price? At $14.94 I thought there was a misprint! I want to go back and purchase the dress in the remaining 4 colors!
I paired the dress with this gorgeous Chevron Shrug in white. Come Spring, the weather in Southern California is typically warm enough that most days I’m simply carrying a light sweater. This shrug is soft, lightweight and versatile enough to be worn with jeans or a more formal dress. Along with some wedges, dress this outfit up with any of Walmart’s accessories, handbags and jewelry.
Since I was heading to Miami for an entire week, I started getting optimistic about the small amount of down time I was going to have. Knowing that Miami’s weather is comparable (if not often warmer) to ours, I decided that packing a swimsuit was a must. It had been at least 2 years since I purchased a new swimsuit and I felt like my current style needed updating. Walmart’s selection of swimwear is substantial and I specifically like Catalina’s Mix ‘n Match pieces for women who’s bottoms and tops don’t always correspond (raises hand). I picked out 3 two-pieces bathing suits that were similar in style yet different in color and patterns. I have purchased Catalina swimwear in the past and really like the coverage provided by their two-piece tankinis and the trendy colors and prints available. Here are the 3 suits I picked out!
Since Walmart offers Mix ‘n Match pieces, you can opt to stick with the traditional swimsuit bottom or get a bit more coverage with a Skirted Swimsuit Bottom or a Swim Short. Each piece retails for $15.96 making the total prices of the swimsuit around $32 plus tax. For a quality, Mix ‘n Match two-piece swimsuit this is an unbeatable price! I prefer to shop for swimwear in-person at my local store, but if you are confident of your size you’ll find a lot of variety when it comes to colors, prints, and styles if you visit Catalina on Walmart.com.
If your wardrobe is in need of some refreshing, be sure to check out the latest styles available at Walmart and Walmart.com.
