This is part of a compensated campaign with JOHNSON’S® NO MORE TANGLES® and Latina Bloggers Connect.
Almost overnight, Halloween costumes and candy were replaced with Thanksgiving decor and Christmas music. We are in the midst of one of my favorite times of the year and the memories we make together are ones that will last a lifetime. Unlike Summer vacation, Thanksgiving and Christmas often bring extended family and/or friends together over cherished traditions and the creation of new memories. Food is an integral part of these celebrations and I love how the blending of culture and food solidify that bond.
I enjoy capturing our family’s memories through photos so you can imagine how this intensifies during the holidays. This is typically the time of year when we also take our family photo and since so many of our memories are preserved this way, I like to dress my kids up as we celebrate throughout the holiday season. A sparkly dress paired with my daughter’s favorite shoes can only be complimented by a classy, holiday hairstyle. Since we’re just a few short weeks from the start of the holiday season, I thought I’d re-create one of Johnson’s gorgeous holiday up-dos to prepare for our first family gathering…Thanksgiving Dinner!
If you’ve followed our Tangled diaries, you know how much I’ve struggled with my daughter’s hair. Up until we started using Johnson’s No More Tangles regimen, I was literally ready to pull out my own hair in frustration, particularly because I really wanted the time we spend washing and styling my daughter’s hair to be enjoyable and memorable like it was with my own mother.
My daughter is at an age where she is exerting her independence, and one area she likes to demonstrate this is by combing her own hair. Thanks to Johson’s, we have a simple but effective routine that ensures my daughter’s hair is clean and well-nourished, smooth, and easy to comb through.
- Step 1: Cleanse with JOHNSON’S® NO MORE TANGLES® Shampoo & Conditioner for beautiful, easy-to-manage hair
- Step 2: Nourish with JOHNSON’S® NO MORE TANGLES® Leave In Conditioner to control wild frizz and tangles for silky, shiny hair
- Step 3: Style using JOHNSON’S® NO MORE TANGLES® Detangling Spray and a brush or wide-tooth comb for stubborn knots in wet or dry hair
I like how easy and effective this routine is. The shampoo/conditioner combo makes bath-time seamless and tear-free and the finishing products help detangle and smooth her hair. Since we don’t wash her hair every day, I like to use the Detangling Spray to help comb out knots when it is dry.
After her wash, we decided to re-create Johnson’s Twist and Turns Up-do. I adapted this tutorial based on the length of my daughter’s hair and I love the end result.
- Part hair from ear to ear.
- Create a top ponytail and bottom ponytail. Secure with a hair tie.
- Take the top ponytail and wrap it on the left side of the bottom ponytail, then bring it up underneath the bottom ponytail on the right side.
- Bring the ends of the ponytail up, and over the rubber band of the top ponytail. Secure it with a bobby pin on the right side of the head.
- Take the ends of the top ponytail and bring them back up and towards the front of the head. Form a hook like shape with the ends.
- Take the bottom ponytail and make a rope/twist braid. Secure the end with a rubber band.
- Wrap the twist braid around like you’re going to make a bun.
- Take the ends and tuck it under the straight part of the top ponytail and pull it out the other side.
- Curl the straight ends of your twist with your fingers.
My daughter absolutely loved her up-do and proudly showed it off when we spent dinner with a friend. Knowing her, she’ll be asking me to re-create this regularly until Thanksgiving.
