I woke up my first morning back from Turks + Caicos and it finally felt like Fall. The cooler weather and earlier sunsets signal that the holiday season is right around the corner and I always associate this time of year with the flavors and smells of Fall. As an avid tea drinker, I’m always excited about this time of year because my favorite tea companies traditionally debut new holiday-inspired flavors.
This Fall, Teavana brought back two amazing season teas including their Pumpkin Spice Brulee and Spiced Apple Cider. Teavana is the crème de la crème of fine tea purveyors and one of my favorites. Upon inception, the brand’s vision was to introduce people to the “aromas, textures, and beneficial qualities of loose leaf teas” while also sharing some of the history and expansive selection of tea varieties available. At present, you can find Teavana’s loose leaf teas online, at their tea emporiums located across the country, and at one of six Tea Bars in New York, Chicago, Seattle, and LA.
I’ve always preferred loose leaf teas because I can control how intensely I want to brew them and the flavors are more distinct. I knew that I would love Teavana’s Pumpkin Spice Brulee Oolong Tea which is the perfect blend of sweet and spicy flavors. This oolong tea features pumpkin flavors as well as hints of caramel, toffee, butterscotch and vanilla and is warm and delightful. Traditionally I like to add a bit of milk or cream to my tea but I found myself enjoying this brew as is.
Rooibos is actually my favorite type of tea so I was intrigued about trying Teavana’s new Spiced Apple Cider Rooibos Tea. Apple cider is a staple during this time of year, but admittedly, I’m not a fan of how sweet this drink is usually prepared. Perhaps that is why this tea is such a wonderful alternative. This tea merges the flavors of crisp apple and juicy plum with cinnamon, chicory, and sweet carob. It has the perfect blend of sweet and spicy flavors and is best enjoyed brewed without sweeteners or milk/cream (I tend to be a purist when it comes to loose leaf teas!). However, if you enjoy the traditional apple cider, check out Teavana’s Spiced Apple Cider recipe featuring their new Spiced Apple Cider Rooibos Tea!
