The biggest deterrent to purchasing all of our foods organic is cost. I am an avid label reader and I strive to keep up-to-date with the latest news regarding the ingredients in our food. Knowing that organic food is upheld to higher standards, I specifically seek out these products and then determine whether or not purchasing them makes financial sense for our family. Ideally, I’d love all of the foods we purchase to be organic, and with the introduction of Walmart’s new Wild Oats line, this will become easier and more affordable for our family.
Since partnering with Walmart 3 years ago, I’ve watched the company make significant strides towards sustainability and offer consumers the products they are asking for. While I can only speak for my community, I know that the demand for organic foods is increasing and will continue to do so as consumers become increasingly knowledgeable about what is in our food.
Wild Oats is a brand that has been around for over 25 years, and interestingly enough, used to have store locations in Southern California. I personally appreciate their commitment to “making simple and real food available to everyone.” This exciting partnership with Walmart is going to make that passion a reality for families as the company rolls out approximately 100 items in stores across the country.
Wild Oats Marketplace Organic will include items like canned vegetables, pasta and sauces, chips and salsa, spices, olive oil and more at savings of 25% or more when compared to nationally branded organic items. While I haven’t seen the entire list, a lot of these products appear to be shelf-stable which is important since I personally find it challenging to find varieties free from ingredients like artificial sweeteners, preservatives, colors, flavors, and more. In an effort to be transparent, Wild Oats list 125 “no-nos” that you won’t ever find in their products.
Wild Oats Marketplace Organic was just released in stores across the country and I can’t wait to try them out. In addition to offering consumers an affordable organic line with a favorable ingredient profile, Wild Oats also holds blind taste tests to ensure their products are on par with national brands.

Two thumbs up for this new line!
A new Walmart was just built near our house and – I admit – it’s not my favorite store. That said, I’ll shop there more often now that I know they carry organic products. Would love to see Walmart carry organic chicken as well!
