In December alone, we managed to create nearly 10 holiday recipes for this site and we had a blast doing so. From a twist to the traditional gingerbread house to a non-alcoholic, Puerto Rican classic drink, we found ourselves bonding over peppermint, potatoes, pasteles, and more. Some of my favorite childhood memories include baking with my mom as a child and from an early age, I’ve invited my kids into the kitchen.
The kitchen is a wonderful place to teach children about math (think measurements), reading (my son can read the recipes now), nutrition, and science (so many chemical reactions!) and we often sneak learning in without even thinking about it. Much of what I encourage my children to do includes gathering ingredients, reading the recipe, measuring, and stirring which is why the Cookin’ Kids Collection we received is being put to great use.
I recently introduced you to Princess House when I showed you How to Host a Tamalada. The company offers a diverse collection of products for the home including pro-quality cookware, home organization solutions, specialty foods, and much more. Designed for kids, the working tools in the basket we received our vibrant and colorful and feature ergonomic designs. For example, each of the tools has a built-rest to minimize messes, the mixing bowl has marked measurements inside and the aprons have pockets to hold the tools. My kids love having their very own set of tools that are attractive and kid-friendly yet functional. And as a mom I appreciate that they’re BPA-free and dishwasher safe, making clean-up a breeze.
