Your Winter Guide to CHILL at the Queen Mary + Discounted Tickets

Posted by Caryn Bailey Leave a Comment

In just one week, our kids will be out of school for their winter break and we have lots of exciting activities planned for them. It’s winter here in Southern California, and since we don’t get snow or ice, we thought we’d take our kids to the coldest place we know: CHILL at the Queen Mary, now taking place in Long Beach, California.

Chill at the Queen Mary

CHILL at the Queen Mary

The Queen Mary introduced this “chilly” event five years ago, and it has become one of Southern California’s favorite winter activities!  Here is a brief overview of what you can expect at this year’s brand new frozen, winter wonderland:

Ice Skating at CHILL

Explore the Ice Adventure Park: This year, Chill introduced the first -ever 38,000 square foot Ice Adventure Park which features ice skating, an Ice Track, ice tricycles, Amsterdam Bumper Boats, Shangahai Speedway, a Zip Line, Ice Shuffleboard, and a two-story, 140-foot-long Ice Tubing Slide. Additionally, this experience celebrates Christmas traditions from six regions across the globe.

Gourmet Food at CHILL at the Queen Mary

The Princess at Chill

Experience an Authentic German Market: After noshing on gourmet pretzels, Bratwurst, and ginger beer, walk through the famous Munich Market and make a wish at Gnome’s Wishing Well. Dining options include the Twisted Pretzel Pub & Tasting Room and Brat Haus.

Swiss Meatballs

Get Cozy inside the Swiss Alpine Lodge: Warm up inside the lodge with roasted marshmallows and build-your-own s’mores or indulge in Swiss cheese and chocolate fondue at Alpine Square.  Families can also opt to dine at the Alpine Cafe, which serves traditional Swiss bites or celebrate the season with festive cocktails in the exclusive Pinnacle Chalet Bar. The bar overlooks Matterhorn Mountain’s two-story, six-lane tubing slide. Don’t leave without taking some Romeo Chocolates at the Swiss Chocolatier!

Chinese Dumplings

Chinese Acrobats

Get Ready for Chinese New Year!  Take a walk down Lantern Lane and experience traditional Lion Dances, the Shanghai Speedway, Chinese Lantern decorating, and fireworks. Sip a cup of traditional tea inside the Zen Teahouse or awaken your taste buds with dumplings at Dim Sum Delight.

Father Frost and The Princess

Celebrate Russia’s Holiday Season: Dance under the Northern Lights Show, then warm up at the Russian Pierogi Paradise or the Stroganoff and Stew Pot. Each venue offers traditional Russian fare such as Stroganoff and Potato Dumplings. You can also make it a date night at the 12 Degree Pinnacle Cathedral Ice Bar which features Moscow’s Basil Cathedral and vodka flights from around the globe.

Holland

Gourmet Donuts

Mistletoe Fizz

Take a Twirl Around Holland’s Outdoor Ice Skating Village: Enjoy live shows, private chalets, and Windmill Way, which features gourmet donuts and pancakes at the Dutch Pantry. If you love breakfast for dinner, check out Windmill Waffle House’s breakfast buffet or walk up to the Breakfast Bar window to enjoy Mistletoe Fizz or a bacon-infused Siracha Bloody Mary.

North Pole at CHILL

Visit Santa and Mrs. Claus at the North Pole:  Once you’ve gotten your “CHILL” on, build your own stocking with Santa’s elves and feel the spirit of the season with liquid candy at the Candy Bar.

Chillettes at CHILL

Rock Out With Live Entertainment:  Every night through January 7th, guests can enjoy authentic cultural entertainment including CHILL’s version of the Forbidden City with performances by the Chinese Acrobat troupe, a traditional Lion Dance, authentic tunes from the Alpine Band, performances by the “Chillettes’, a Northern Lights Show with aerialist performers, and a DJ spinning top hits at the Russian Disco in CHILL’s Blizzard Boulevard. Families will also enjoy meeting Kristkindle, Father Frost and The Princess, Santa and Mrs. Claus, and can experience the nightly tree lighting ceremony, choreographed light shows, and more.
